As a Service Director – Site Closure Team, you will join our Remediation and Reclamation service line, reporting into the Vice President. The successful applicant will be office-based (hybrid) and be responsible for leading a team of practitioners for a core group of our upstream oil and gas clients in Alberta where projects are focused on achieving site closure for inactive well sites and facilities. Approximately two thirds of your time would be focused on management of the team and one third directly supporting technical work and interfacing with the clients.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supervise approximately 10 to 20 practitioners including project managers, senior technical advisors, and field leads. Managing performance (promotion, compensation, compliance, and discipline), supporting career development, and leading recruitment.
  • Collaborate with Operations Directors and Service Directors to develop the core team of practitioners and to utilize other staff resources from outside the Site Closure Team as the work demands.
  • Drive our safety culture including site inspections and supporting audits.
  • Maintain accountability for profit and loss performance within the service area.
  • Work with the portfolio managers of this core group of clients to standardize common business administration and organizational processes for improved efficiency and reporting of key performance indicators.
  • Participate in technical work within your area of professional practice for assessment, remediation and/or reclamation activities.

What Are We Looking For:

  • Degree or technical diploma in environmental science, geology, engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years of previous environmental consulting experience with a minimum of ten (10) years of project management experience directing legacy oil and gas projects.
  • Demonstrated experience with preparing and reviewing technical reports (ESAs, RMPs, RAPs, etc.), work plans, and cost estimates.
  • Strong understanding of the Alberta Contaminated Sites Framework and the Alberta Energy Regulator’s OneStop system.
  • Self-motivated, possess strong communication skills (verbal and written), and strong leadership skills.
  • Eligibility for registration in or a member in good standing of a professional organization (e.g. AIA, ASET, APEGA etc.).
  • A valid and clean class 5 driver’s license with no restrictions
