We are looking to hire two (2) Strategy Managers to join our Strategy Development and Impact team.
Where in Wellcome will I be working?
You will be working in the Strategy Development and Impact within Strategy reporting to the Strategy Lead.
The role reports to the Strategy Lead, you will support and help develop Wellcome's strategy function, enabling teams to apply strategic focus in a dynamic environment to achieve Wellcome’s vision of addressing urgent global health challenges.
The Strategy team is a central nexus for ensuring the organisation’s resources, processes, and activities are aligned to deliver Wellcome’s mission and strategy. It has a crucial role in developing Wellcome's strategy, related programmes and initiatives, and monitoring organisational impact.
What will I be doing?
In this role, you will be leading and managing a broad range of strategy development and cross-organisational strategy work. This includes conducting research and analysis, scenario modelling, and in-depth exploration of emerging areas, to refine, evolving and review the impact of strategy and its component parts.
As a Strategy Manager, you will:
Partner with senior leaders and interdisciplinary teams to develop inclusive and robust strategies aligning all teams towards Wellcome’s vision, providing thought leadership and impactful advice.
Ensure appropriate standards and methodologies are used to develop strategies that are evidence-based, impact focused and measurable.
Track and share major global trends and alternative future scenarios that may influence and shape Wellcome’s long-term impact and direction.
Present evidence and recommendations to inform strategic decision-making and reassessment of priorities by the Executive Committee and Board of Governors.
Plan and manage matrix team workload, providing constructive feedback to Strategy Advisers and contributing to a diverse and inclusive organisational culture.
Contribute to a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation, collaborating across departments.

If you have substantial experience in delivering strategic analysis and recommendations on complex issues within medium to large organisations, coupled with expertise in leading cross-functional projects and engaging with senior executives, and you excel in facilitating group problem-solving and stakeholder management, this role is tailored for you.
Your ability to think critically, work autonomously, and develop outcome-focused strategies using methodologies like Theory of Change will be crucial, alongside possessing strong communication and interpersonal skills to build influential relationships.

Minimum Criteria:
Substantial experience of scoping and delivering analysis and recommendations on complex, cross organisational strategic priority issues within a medium- to large-sized organisation.
Knowledge and evidenced understanding of how different organisations have developed and exploited their role on science and research for positive impact, particularly tackling systems level problems.
Experience of working successfully with senior executive-level officials on strategic issues.
Substantial experience of leading and managing programmes or projects through matrix management of cross-functional groups.
Successfully supported the development of team and organizational outcome focused strategies using a range of tools and techniques and ensuring the products are underpinned by appropriate methodologies/impact frameworks e.g. Theory of Change.
