Department: Corporate Compliance & Corporate Risk Management
Reports to: EVP, Corporate Compliance & Risk Management
Location: Remote (Preferred working hours: 8 AM – 5 PM PST)
FLSA Status: Exempt

About the Role

We’re seeking a strategic and execution-focused Director of Governance & Risk to lead enterprise-wide governance, risk, and compliance efforts. This role is responsible for implementing and enhancing frameworks that support sound governance practices and proactive risk management across all business units.

You’ll work cross-functionally with senior leaders to manage risk exposure, regulatory obligations, and audit readiness—while fostering a culture of integrity and accountability.

What You’ll Do

Risk & Compliance Oversight

  • Monitor regulatory changes and ensure organizational compliance with industry standards and legal requirements

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify business and operational vulnerabilities

  • Manage responses to external audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory requests

  • Oversee risk mitigation plans and assess control effectiveness across business areas

Governance Strategy

  • Drive continuous improvement of governance policies, procedures, and risk frameworks

  • Develop and maintain risk management system (RMS) tools, tracking identified risks and mitigation efforts

  • Recommend governance enhancements that improve transparency, compliance, and operational efficiency

Organizational Support

  • Partner with business leaders to embed risk management in daily operations

  • Lead training and awareness initiatives on compliance, ethics, and risk for employees and leadership

  • Provide actionable guidance and reporting on enterprise risk and compliance to executive leadership

What You Bring

  • 7+ years of experience in governance, risk, and/or compliance roles within the insurance industry (P&C, L&H, or Claims)

  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, industry standards, and risk mitigation best practices

  • Experience working in an insurance brokerage or related environment preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, or a related field

  • Property & Casualty License (or ability to obtain)

  • Familiarity with Surplus Lines filing is a plus

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 and standard business applications
