Estimating Manager

KBR is seeking a highly skilled Estimating Manager to lead the preparation of cost estimates for various projects. This role demands a strategic mindset, meticulous attention to detail, and strong leadership capabilities. The Estimating Manager is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of cost estimates for projects and proposals, adhering to KBR and industry-accepted estimate classification systems.

Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Actively participate in KBR’s Zero Harm program and activities throughout the year and lead the Estimating team in promoting a Zero Harm mindset in their jobs and their personal lives.

  • Provide leadership and direction to a team of estimators, ranging from entry-level to Principal Estimators, ensuring the achievement of functional objectives.

  • Oversee the preparation of detailed cost estimates for various projects, ensuring accuracy and adherence to classification systems. Stay updated with the latest estimating technology, techniques, and industry best practices. As a working manager, the Estimating Manager will work on project estimates, maximizing chargeability for their time.

  • Lead the development of departmental processes and procedures, contributing to the strategic vision of the Estimating function within the regional office and the company.

  • Utilize excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to present estimates to upper management and support the development of the estimating team. Maintain constant communication with client representatives and counterparts form other KBR departments and offices.

  • Responsible for the training, coaching, mentoring, and career development of the estimating team.

  • Manage available resources to handle the expected workload and lead efforts to expand work availability for estimators by communicating and maintaining relationships with client representatives and counterparts at other KBR offices.

  • Review and oversee the development of estimates from the Estimating team with attention to detail and consistency to meet client and company expectations. The Estimating Manager must be able to apply critical thinking and assessment of complex estimates developed by the team.

  • The position is a hybrid work arrangement, and the expectation will be for the Estimating Manager to work from the office for a minimum of two (2) days per week. Some travel may be required throughout the year in order to sustain relationships with other KBR offices and/or clients.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • College degree, preferably in fields related to Engineering or Construction.

  • 10+ years of Estimating experience required.

  • In lieu of formal education, 15 years of related experience.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Well versed in Microsoft suite of tools (Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams).

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Extensive experience with the use of Aspen Economic Evaluation tools, specifically Aspen Capital Cost Estimator.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Cost Risk Analysis models and how they are applied in capital cost estimates.
