Position Purpose:
\r\nUnder general supervision, prepares, applies, and touches up finish on aircraft furniture per aircraft specifications and design/engineering drawings. Assists lead by overseeing projects and guiding, assisting, and directing co-workers. Mentors and trains other Cabinet Finishers.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
\r\n\r\nEssential Functions:
\r\n\r\nPerforms complex, high-quality repairs to finished surfaces of aircraft furniture in the shop and on aircraft. Applies finish using spray equipment and manual/mechanical methods.
\r\n\tInterprets material specs to ensure finished product meets design/engineering requirements with high quality and detail. Coordinates with Design group to meet customer-approved design samples.
\r\n\tComplies with and promotes Safety, 5S, and housekeeping. Ensures protection of aircraft interiors (PTP).
\r\n\tMentors and trains less skilled technicians.
\r\n\tHelps develop and apply process improvements for safety, cost, cycle time, and man-hours using Lean Six Sigma tools.
\r\n\tUses material tracking system to create part demands, track squawks, and sign off work.
\r\n\tHelps develop initiatives to meet individual OGSM goals, as required.
\r\n\tAdditional Functions:
\r\n\r\nTakes on Lead responsibilities when needed. Oversees projects and works with Lead to delegate tasks to assigned techs.
\r\n\tConducts safety audits and helps others do safety audits.
\r\n\tHelps maintain shop equipment and JSAs.
\r\n\tCreates YI@W (Your Ideas at Work) when opportunities arise.
\r\n\tHelps with monthly 5S audits.
\r\n\tPerforms other duties as assigned.
\r\n\tOther Requirements:
\r\n\r\nWorking knowledge of *** inspection, process specs, and terminology.
\r\n\tCan read, write, speak, and understand English.
\r\n\tCan climb ladders/stairs, work in small spaces, lift up to 40 lbs, and work any shift.
\r\n\tComputer literate.
\r\n\tMust be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
