Job Summary: 
Blavity Inc. seeks a tech-savvy Content Writer (AI Researcher) to join our editorial team in an impactful role harnessing the power of AI to enhance and expedite writing. The Content Writer (AI Researcher) will focus on integrating the latest Artificial Intelligence tools into our research, drafting, and publishing processes to reduce production time frames while expanding creative boundaries.

Must be able to work either 10 AM - 2 PM or 11 AM - 3 PM Eastern Time, Monday to Friday.
This position is a (1099) contractor.
This role will report directly to the SEO Editor and the Associate Director of SEO.

Contractors will be responsible for providing their own equipment, including but not limited to laptop computers, cell phones, or any other electronic equipment required to perform their role.

Responsibilities: 

  • Use AI tools to quickly gather information and build context for assigned topics.
  • Rely on AI to help draft content outlines and tone, while reviewing and refining before editing.
  • Carefully fact-check and assess AI-generated content to ensure accuracy, ethics, and brand consistency.
  • Optimize all content using basic SEO best practices, including structure, keywords, and performance goals.
  • Collaborate with your editor daily on assignments and feedback.
  • Deliver 2–3 high-quality, well-thought-out pieces of content each day.
  • Stay current on trending news, especially across social media and streaming platforms.

Qualifications: 

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree
  • Required Experience
    • At least 1 year of experience using WordPress or a similar content management system to write, edit, and publish content.
    • Familiar with current AP Style rules, best practices for writing online, and basic SEO principles.
    • A strong online writing portfolio that shows excellent writing and content creation skills.
    • Able to balance the use of automation tools with thoughtful human oversight and creativity.
    • Careful and thorough when checking content to avoid misinformation and plagiarism.
  • Preferred Experience:
    • 2+ years of writing
    • Prior experience updating content or working with a digital publisher
  • Technologies: Fluent in Google Suite, Asana and WordPress CMS or comparable Content Management System
  • Additional Qualifications:
    • Excellent organization and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a positive, can-do approach
    • Comfort performing research to ensure our information is accurate and highly useful to readers
    • Entrepreneurial self-starter who is comfortable taking on a high level of responsibility
    • Motivated to work hard in a fast-paced environment
    • Excellent communication and analytical skills; willing to wear multiple hats 
    • A healthy appreciation of GIFs and Black culture

Details: 

  • This is a fully remote role, occasional travel may be required. 
  • Candidates must be available to work at least 80% in alignment with the Eastern Time Zone.
  • The hourly rate for this role is $15 - $16.
