Job description

Summary

Responsible for designing, testing, implementing, supporting the company’s software applications and data reporting needs. Includes hands on iSeries system administration and help the organization best utilize the platform following industry best practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as apparent or required by management. 

Work with business teams to develop solutions to increase productivity and efficiency across the enterprise.
 

Analyze data requests and programmatic challenges and proposes appropriate solutions.

Design and develop new and update existing programs for company applications including ERP System.  Develop the full stack, including menus, screens, programs, database and any related communication protocols.

Monitor all system operations, operating system and application software applications for potential problems and performs appropriate corrective actions. Analyzes and applies operating and application system version upgrades and other software patches/updates. 

Write, review, and maintain documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, testing, installation, changes, and corrections.   Includes writing and maintaining user and system documentation. 

Ensure the preservation and integrity of iSeries data, while maintaining a high level of discretion and confidentiality. I.e. performing operating and application system backups and maintaining system documentation and disaster recovery (DR) procedures. 

Administer iSeries operating system and hardware as needed to maximize performance, perform preventative maintenance, and resolve issues with minimal system downtime. 

Monitor and adhere to operating system and application software licensing requirements. 

Effectively communicate any deviations and/or corrective actions needed to maintain system usability, data accuracy, disaster recovery and licensing compliance. 

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred or equivalent work experience. 

Minimum of 7 years of iSeries experience

Results oriented individual who thrives working in a fast paced manufacturing environment with ability to be flexible and work independently or in a cross-functional team environment

Strong project management skills with effective results focus within an information systems environment to include: develop project plans; coordinate projects; communicate changes and progress; 

IBM iSeries CL, SQL/embedded SQL, RPGIII, RPG IV and RPGLE programming skills.  Experience with the BPCS ASSET 4GL language a plus. 

MS SQL & Reporting Services a plus.
