General Summary of Duties:
Lead and coordinate the activities of Maintenance team involved in the repair and maintenance of railroad locomotives. Responsibilities include reading management and engineering reports to identify necessary repairs, ensuring workshop discipline in terms of safety, 5S, attendance, and quality, and maintaining a clean and respectable fleet appearance to ensure a positive, safe, and reliable customer experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead and coordinate activities of Technicians engaged in locomotive repair and maintenance.
Assign duties to Maintenance team based on their abilities and the nature of required repairs.
Monitor work progress to ensure adherence to procedures and standards. Direct Maintenance team in performing preventive maintenance on locomotive components such as diesel engines, frames, electrical systems, and air brakes.
Monitor stock levels of replacement parts and requisition needed parts. Patrol work sites to observe methods, inspect safety equipment, and ensure compliance with regulations.
Follow activity plans and quality and EHS recommendations. Use eService to open locomotive work orders and tracking all locomotives Perform various electrical and mechanical tasks. Conduct heavy repairs on locomotive components such as compressors, diesel engines, and trucks.
Perform other duties as described under the Maintenance Technical Advisor Title.
Provide clear communication and technical guidance to railroad employees and management to include troubleshooting, material assistance, tooling and / or locomotive status, safety procedures, productivity and process improvements, and contract requirement clarification.
Coordinate and provide instruction on key programs and procedures related to locomotive maintenance and modifications.
Provide technical mentorship to teams, including troubleshooting, material handling, tooling, safety procedures, and contract requirement clarification Provide clear communication to employees, customer management, and Wabtec management on work to be performed, equipment status, efficiency, and process improvements.
Partner with teams to promote, maintain, and drive continuous improvement in safe work practices while supervising productivity, quality assurance, and adherence to contract requirements Ensure compliance with all governmental regulations, OSHA work practices, and industry / site specific work rules Work with employees and management on establishing production plans for labor, material, and logistics Work with various software systems to run material, labor plans, and other Ensure compliance with all railroad safety and operational regulations.
Ensure the calibration and compliance of tools and equipment which will be used in maintenance activities.
