Job description

To complete our global CMO sourcing team, we are looking for a

Sourcing Manager - CMOS (100%)

Responsible for overseeing the development and execution of sourcing strategies at CSL Vifor categories of contract manufacturing with an annual value of $60m at present, expanding as CSL externalize manufacturing and supply chain operations across the network. 

The Sourcing Manager implements sourcing plans and tactics to effectively manage the assigned project and associated activities. An important aspect of this role is maximizing supplier performance and supporting the company’s business savings plans; in addition to ensuring consistency with management directives and instructions, company strategy, commitments and goals.

This role will be a key part of the CMO Sourcing team and be accountable for delivering own category targets, in addition to establishing targets with the CMO’s to identify further TCO value across the business unit, including addressing Capacity, Quality, Service, Cost and Scarcity constraints, whilst introducing and leveraging industry leading innovation into the business.  The Sourcing Manager will be accountable for establishing recommendations and action plans to support technical transfers, address risks and deliver further benefit.

This Sourcing Manager will have a significant influence on shaping strategies across the CSL Vifor network and removing complexity from the manufacturing supply chain.  Product Safety across CSL’s business operations whilst mitigating risk and delivering year on year multi-million dollar value is expected.

This role will be crucial at providing a robust and comprehensive market assessment for how these external partners can drive innovation, speed, agility and cost improvements to enable CSL to efficiently scale to our 2035 aspirations.

Responsibilities

Develop Plans aligned to CSL Global and Procurement Strategy

  • Develop and implement annual action plans for strategic vendors based on the Global Category Strategy and CSL Vifor business needs to ensure clear objectives and action plans resulting in the reduction of the total cost of ownership and risk, while increasing innovation, customer service, compliance and quality.

Establish and Maintain Effective Category Management and Bid Management

  • Drive value from the global category(s) by defining and implementing effective category management strategies; establishing and managing Councils for business-critical commodities aligned with the evolving business requirements and are effectively leading key sourcing activities, including negotiations, that to deliver lower cost of ownership, lower risk, higher quality and better supply performance. 
  • Determines when a formal contractual agreement is needed and manages and coordinates the process of drafting, reviewing and approving the agreement Help drive contract negotiation and management, including drafting agreements according to standard or non-standard services in conjunction with contract team; reviewing counter changes from counter party and approving or rejecting with input from Legal; and securing approval from appropriate signatories before validating and publishing
  • Conduct business with integrity, in accordance with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations and anti-bribery requirements and supports inclusion and belonging by promoting utilisation of small, disadvantaged and/or diverse suppliers.

Supplier Relationship Management (SRM)

  • Manage SRM processes with suppliers within the category as per supplier segmentation, including risk management strategies in accordance with global policies, to enhance relationships and innovations with critical suppliers with a focus on assurance of supply, quality, service, continuous improvement, and innovation while minimizing costs for CSL and develop processes to measure value above and beyond savings in line with CSL’s values and Procurement strategy. 
  • Implement Global procedures to ensure execution of sourcing activities in compliance with CSL Sourcing Policy, Code of Responsible Business Practices, and all other compliance standards. 

Supply Performance Management, including management of Key Performance Indicators

  • Responsible for monitoring Supply Performance KPIs and conducting regular Operational Reviews as per Procurement’s Governance processes with supporting analysis and reporting from the Centre of Excellence and ensuring any Category Management roles within the team also review and manage Supplier performance to meet agreed standards. 
  • Leverage value from supplier relationships to create value beyond the contract
  • Implement risk mitigation strategies to protect the on-going interests of CSL and our reputation

Manage Key Internal and External Stakeholders and Partners Relationships

  • Build and maintain effective professional relationships with senior, internal stakeholders and senior external executives within large vendors to deliver upon Procurement’s objectives by ongoing discussions and participation in formal teams and groups with senior leaders in CSL Vifor and external vendors to manage supplier performance, issues, procurement improvement initiatives and other broader business issues. 

Drive Innovation

  • Lead and participate in global transformation projects and continuous improvement initiatives as required to ensure the delivery of targeted benefits. 
  • Lead annual opportunity analysis forums with cross functional stakeholders and key supplier partners to replenish idea and initiative pipeline to continually generate value to the business and reduction of Cost of Goods Sold.

Job Specifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business / Procurement / Supply Chain Management preferred or related field
  • 5+ years' procurement/supply management experience
  • Purchasing Management Certification (ISM/CPM, CIPS) preferred
  • Strong time management and communication skills, strong drive for results
  • Understanding of the pharmaceutical industry or related industry preferred but not essential
  • Preferable 2-3 years demonstrable CMO sourcing experience as it relates to CSL Vifor pharma / bio industry
  • Establishing CMO relationships and technical transfer agreements / support

  • Solid Category Management, Strategic Sourcing, and Supplier Relationship Management knowledge

The position also requires the ability to build and maintain strong relationships and collaborate effectively with all levels and cross functionally within the organization.

Travel Requirements

  • Travel within Europe as required (10-30%)
  • Travel requirements will vary depending upon where the incumbent is based.
