Job description

The Student Services Coordinator (SSC) has responsibilities that include academic success consultation/coaching for academic skill development, time management, study skills and test taking strategies for the retention/persistence of enrolled nursing students.  The SSC interacts with students, university faculty and advising teams, professional staff, and other program personnel to enhance and facilitate the testing performance, progression, and graduation of students from orientation to NCLEX testing.

Primary Function:

  • Facilitation and support of student progression
  • Provide on-site success coaching and coordination of appropriate student services
  • Manages Individualized Student Success Plans based on testing performance

What You Will Do:

  • Provides proactive and developmental services for all active students
  • Communicates concerns about student progress to the student, faculty members, and administration in conjunction with coaching efforts and strategy 
  • Consistently stays engaged with students to promote success by using forums such as: one on one meetings, phone calls, face-to-face video chat, and success seminars
  • Serve as the primary facilitator of the student’s success course at the beginning of the program
  • Serve as the owner of the success course in collaboration with Program Directors
  • Assist with orientation and student check in
  • Assist nursing students to identify gaps in nursing knowledge based on testing performance analysis and create a structured remediation plan using the NCLEX testing package resources
  • Initiates one on one meetings with nursing students to create individualized long-range NCLEX preparation action plans based on testing progress and other indicators
  • Partners with the ATI account representative to assist students with access to licensure readiness resources
  • Plans and facilitates ATI NCLEX licensure readiness tests
  • Actively initiates and continues ongoing guidance to students on study skills, testing preparation and overall success strategies via 1:1, workshops, and presentations
  • Works collaboratively with the academic team, including faculty and administration by raising concerns about student progress
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of all student interactions, utilizing Orbis Salesforce for tracking student contact, and report to the program director
  • Obtain student status updates from academic advisor and/or registrar to update student records for LOA, withdrawal, out of progression events for data tracking/reporting
  • Appropriately documents communication with students and maintains all required student population reports

  • Student services and/or counseling is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong exam and test preparation strategy experience in a Higher Ed setting
  • Education and Certification:
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Master’s Degree in higher education, nursing education, or counseling preferred
  • Experience in healthcare or a complementary field preferred
