Staff Accountant II – Investment Accounting & Reporting

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant II to join our Investment Accounting & Reporting team. This role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and at least 3 years of relevant experience, ideally in real estate, investment, or public accounting. You will be responsible for preparing reconciliations, financial statements, fund consolidations, and investor reporting in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. The ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative, and capable of working independently to meet critical deadlines.

This is a hybrid position with a combination of remote work and on-site presence at our corporate office in the Sorrento Valley area of San Diego, CA. Candidates must reside within commuting distance.

Education/Certificates:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • A CPA (or equivalent) designation is a plus

Experience:

  • 3+ years of relevant Accounting experience required
  • Real Estate Industry, Investment Accounting, or Public Accounting experience a strong plus
  • A successful candidate will have demonstrated ability to meet work deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of accounting theory
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Must be highly detailed, organized in work and a strong team player
  • Ability to prioritize work load and meet deadlines
  • Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employee, management and external clients to maximize performance and result

Essential Duties:

  • Prepare monthly bank and account reconciliations
  • Assist in monthly, quarterly and year end close procedures
  • Perform monthly fund consolidation
  • Prepare equity batch transactions for investor contributions and distributions based on understanding of investor/investee relationships
  • Prepare consolidated historical GAAP and Market Value financial statements required by lenders and investors
  • Generate fund performance reports (e.g. TWR, IRR, budget vs. actual) as required by investors
  • Assist with financial audits as well as preparing work papers required by external auditors
  • Prepare journal entries for transactions 
  • Process fund AP
  • Prepare Subscription Facility borrowing requests
  • Prepare capital calls and process distributions
  • Prepare lender compliance reports
  • Other projects as assigned

Estimated Rate of Pay:

$75,000.00 - $80,000.00

This position is exempt; the range above reflects annual base salary.

The pay range displayed for this position is determined by skills and experience required, location and job complexity*. Potential job offers may vary based on the skills, education, and experience an individual candidate holds. This range reflects base rate only, and does not include allowances, perks, commissions or bonuses applicable to this position (if any).
