Watts is seeking a seasoned accounting and finance leader with extensive manufacturing industry expertise to collaborate with plant leadership. The Controller will be pivotal in driving results and optimizing financial performance through accurate accounting records, robust internal controls, compliance, strategic decision-making, process improvements, and effective cost management. This role supports our Watts Applied Solutions business and involves close collaboration with the corporate controllership group, internal and external auditors, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee a finance and accounting function to support plant operations and corporate objectives.
  • Create and sustain financial policies, internal controls, and compliance processes.
  • Provide financial analysis, forecasts, and reports for executive decisions.
  • Collaborate with leadership on pricing, investments, and profitability.
  • Enhance budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning processes.
  • Ensure statutory reporting and regulatory compliance.
  • Create financial models to assess new opportunities and partnerships.
  • Align financial tools with operational needs.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration globally.
  • Review general ledger account reconciliations and journal entries, ensuring proper support and documentation are maintained and issues are resolved promptly (e.g., warranty accruals, inventory E&O, inventory capitalized variances).
  • Implement and monitor financial reporting controls for SOX compliance.
  • Assess risks to spot non-compliance areas and create mitigation strategies.
  • Continuously improve financial processes and controls for better efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Create and manage documentation for process and business changes as well as standard operating procedures related to end-to-end financial processes, ensuring the review and reconciliation of the associated GL accounts.
  • Offer training and guidance to personnel on SOX compliance and internal control procedures.
  • Compile and present reports on SOX compliance status, audit findings, and remediation plans to senior management.
  • Continuously monitor legal, tax, and regulatory changes and trends to ensure compliance and proactively identify emerging opportunities and risks, providing recommendations to management.
  • Conduct project accounting for open projects, report and review profitability; collaborate with the business to ensure timely billing and appropriate revenue recognition based on required milestones and performance obligations.

Management:

This position will have 6-8 direct reports.

You Have:

  • BS/BA in Business, Finance or Accounting. MBA
  • CPA/CMA certification preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive finance/controllership experience in large, highly complex manufacturing plants, public corporations.
  • In-depth knowledge of SOX regulations and internal controls frameworks.
  • Experience with Section 404 Sarbanes-Oxley is required.
  • A strong understanding of GAAP, financial performance drivers, accounting principles, internal controls and financial systems is required.
  • Strong background in financial planning, analysis, and reporting
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects and influence strategic outcomes
  • Experience with Epicor, Glovia, SAP S4 Hana and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) is beneficial.
  • Excellent presentation, time management, collaboration, interpersonal and communication skills is required.
  • Advanced Excel skills including: vlookup, sumifs, pivot tables, ability to effectively manipulate and organize large amounts of data.
  • Experience with ERP implementation and M&A is a plus.
