Job description

About Prepared

911 is the backbone of American public safety…but, for too long, the professionals that dedicate their lives to answering our calls have been let down by the technology that serves them. Our mission is to change that.

We aim to ensure that every emergency receives a perfect response; a bold vision requires bold action from our team, working hand-in-hand with the professionals we serve.

Since the public launch of our first public safety product in the fall of 2021, our technology has helped streamline millions of 911 calls in communities around the country. We’ve revolutionized what’s possible in emergency response by applying cutting-edge AI to the most critical challenges facing first responders. Our partners span 49 states and collectively protect more than 90 million people.

Backed by more than $130 million in funding led from investors like General Catalyst, Andreessen Horowitz, and First Round Capital, we're scaling rapidly to become a core component of emergency calls nationwide, driving the future of emergency response toward a safer, more agile system.

At Prepared, you’re not simply part of a team — you’re a key force in a mission that truly matters. Your contributions here will shape the future of emergency services, playing a vital role in creating a safer, more connected world.

Position Overview

We are looking for a Solutions Consultant to join our team and play a pivotal role in expanding our AI-powered 911 platform. This role bridges the gap between technical product expertise and sales, working closely with customers, sales teams, and the implementation and product teams to drive adoption of our full suite.

The ideal candidate has deep experience in telephony systems, a strong understanding of 911 and emergency response technology, and the ability to sell solutions, not just features. You’ll be responsible for deeply understanding PSAPs’ pain points, supporting sales to new customers as well as expansions on existing customers, and acting as a trusted advisor to IT leaders and decision-makers.

This is a high-impact role at a company revolutionizing public safety communication—if you're passionate about transforming how emergency services operate, we’d love to talk to you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the technical sales process for our AI Powered platform, engaging with customers to assess their needs and propose tailored solutions.

  • Work closely with sales, product, and engineering teams to align customer requirements with our platform capabilities.

  • Educate and influence decision-makers at government agencies and emergency response organizations, demonstrating why our solution is the best fit.

  • Lead technical demonstrations and solution discussions, ensuring credibility with IT and operations teams.

  • Ensure alignment between customer expectations and Prepared’s implementation and product constraints.

  • Be the voice of the customer, gathering feedback and helping inform product development.

  • Develop deep expertise in emergency response workflows, and enterprise communication tools.

  • Support proposal development and RFx responses, ensuring technical accuracy and strategic positioning.

  • Please note: This role requires 50%-60% travel.

What Make You a Great Fit
  • 5-8+ years of experience as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Pre-Sales Engineer in public safety communications.

  • Deep technical understanding of public safety communications systems, including 911 solutions, telephony infrastructure, and emergency response technology.

  • Strong ability to sell a vision, even when a product is still evolving—comfortable engaging in strategic conversations with IT leaders.

  • Experience working with government agencies and enterprise customers, understanding their unique procurement and decision-making processes.

  • Ability to manage long sales cycles, working closely with sales teams to close complex deals.

  • Exceptional communication skills—able to simplify technical concepts and build trust with customers.

Pay Transparency

The base compensation for this role is approximately $170,000–185,000 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, company equity grants, participation in Prepared’s unlimited vacation program.
