Special Risks Insurance Managers is currently seeking an experienced Commercial Underwriter with a primary focus on Property & Casualty to join our growing team, working remotely out of our Markham, ON office.

This is a strategic role with high visibility, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, broker-centric environment and is ready to take ownership of their portfolio.

We have multiple locations across Canada including Langley & Vancouver BC, Winnipeg, MB, Markham, ON and the Atlantic.

As a P&C Underwriter with SRIM, you will:

  • Review, underwrite and price new business and renewals with confidence and precision
  • Grow and maintain a profitable book of business
  • Focusing on growing our High Value Homeowners Program and collaborating with our team of Underwriters across the country.
  • Establish & strengthen relationships with retail producing brokers by encouraging additional submission inflow.
  • Share feedback, market intel, and insights with the team to help everyone stay sharp and aligned
  • Attend broker meetings and industry events — your presence matters.
  • Potential to participate in discussions with markets & add commentary on specific programs
     

*Note: We are open to interviewing and hiring individuals with Intermediate or Senior Underwriting Level backgrounds.  The compensation package will be reviewed accordingly based on applicable experience.

  • Level 1 - General Insurance license (or the ability to obtain within a certain time frame)
  • CAIB, CIP, CRM, FCIP or working towards a finalizing a designation is preferred
  • 5+ Years Underwriting experience. **Additional consideration given to candidates with prior MGA experience
