Employment and Career Pathways Guide - US Enterprise

Location: Twin Cities (Minnesota); non-remote position (direct field work 70% and office-based work 30%).

Role: Temporary, Full-time,  This position is currently grant-funded through through September 29, 2025 only. 

 

40 hours/week, weekday/daytime hours

 

Reports to Employment and Career Pathways Program Manager

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States

 

Languages: Seeking applicants with language proficiency in English and in Somali, Oromo, Amharic, Spanish, Swahili, or other languages represented by individuals new to Minnesota and the United States.

The Role:

Join Alight’s United States Enterprise as an Alight Employment and Career Services (ECS) Guide. As an Alight ECS Guide, you will provide guidance and support to newcomers in Minnesota as a team member in Alight’s partnership with Minnesota’s Resettlement Network Services (metro area).

Specific responsibilities:

We are seeking applicants to fulfill the following responsibilities.

 

Employment and Career Supports

“Employment and Career Supports provides services for employment placement across a range of employment needs. Services include employment skills assessment and goal planning, initial employment placement, employment upgrades that increase economic stability, and bridges to career pathway program and opportunities for economic mobility. (Resettlement Network Services Collaborative)

Responsibilities under this area include

  • Meeting with participants to address employment needs.
  • Support and coach participants in applying for employment opportunities and preparing for interviews. This includes assisting individuals with resume preparation, interview coaching and prep, supporting in organizing transport for the individuals, etc.
  • Identify potential employers and cultivate and manage relationships with these employment partners.
  • Secure initial employment for individuals new to the Twin Cities and guiding them through the hiring process.
  • Participate actively in regular meetings within Alight and with the service collaborative as needed.
  • Conduct required documentation and maintain accurate records of customer interactions and progress using a shared case database system.
  • Serve as an Ambassador of Alight to the community at large, employers, and with other external partners/donors.

 

Other

  • Other duties as needed, and any other activities that may be required in a rapidly changing environment.

 

Regular travel within the Twin Cities Metro Area is expected, and it is expected for the candidate to split their time between direct field work with customers and office-based administrative tasks, adapting to the needs of both the customers and the program.

  • You recognize that all of Alight’s work starts with displaced people, and it’s going to be your job to make sure we satisfy our customers by supporting them in their employment journey from resume writing to the hiring process.
  • Fluent in English and a second language (Somali, Oromo, Amharic, Swahili, Spanish, etc.), and comfortable communicating in-person, over the phone and via email.
  • You have 1-2 years of customer service or administrative experience and have the highest standard for customer service, knowing how to offer this in a generous and joyful way.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Ability to make a human connection and engage with a variety of people in an ever-changing environment. 
  • You understand how to track information and are highly organized.
  • You work well with a lot of freedom and do your best work in a culture that does the doable with whatever resources we have.
  • You are culturally agile and are invigorated by co-creating with multiple partners.
  • You have a founders’ spirit, embrace ambiguity, and are joyful to the people you serve and work beside. 
  • You deliver your work generously and take ownership of everything that lands in your lap.
  • Driver’s license and Motor Vehicle Check clearance along with access to dependable transportation required.
