About the Position
We are looking for a 6-month intern to collaborate on our European energy efficiency and sustainable mobility projects in our office in Barcelona, Spain (starting asap).

What you will be doing
  • You will support us in our advisory  projects. These range from Horizon Europe co-funded Smart Cities projects  to supporting the acquisition and delivery of projects with cities mainly in  Spain and Portugal.
  • You will assist in the implementation of tailored  measures for clean energy, decarbonisation, energy efficiency and  sustainable urban mobility (e.g.: PEDs, LECs, SECAPs, e-mobility). You  will also provide support to the project’s exploitation lead and outcomes  through the conception of business models and replication.
  • You will support expanding the database of  use cases and solutions on the BABLE platform. This would involve  researching best practices of smart city solutions implemented in Iberia  and approaching project managers to add them as use cases in BABLE.
  • You will help us to create a database with  the most important events and networks of cities and companies in the  sector.
  • You will research the smart cities market  in Iberia, as well as the most used solutions.
  • You will evaluate European and national  funding sources for innovation projects and accompany the team on building  concept ideas to accompany European cities to apply for fund  opportunities.
What you can bring in

Your profile

  • Compulsory internship as part of the  curriculum would be preferable
  • Professional level in English is  mandatory. Knowledge in Spanish and/or Portuguese would be highly  appreciated desirable.
  • Proven experience working with GIS will be  an asset
  • Excellent communication skills and ability  to work in an international and multidisciplinary team. Experience in  project management would be an asset.

  • While your academic background matters, what truly excites us  is your potential to make an impact. Our team is a vibrant mix of  engineers, geographers, sociologists, and architects, all bringing  different perspectives to the table.

About us

BABLE was founded in 2017 as a spin-off from the Fraunhofer Research Society with the goal to create a digital knowledge exchange around smart city topics. This newly created platform was to enable city governments to find the right technologies that can improve the quality of life for their citizens.

The impact of this platform and the following projects BABLE undertook in the years since its foundation increasingly helped to build a missing bridge between the public and private sector. In the last years the expansion from having just a knowledge platform to additionally having a fully distributed team of over 50 experts has enabled BABLE to build a proven track record with impactful projects with key players in the smart city field
