As a Structural Sales Specialist, your deep understanding of automotive structural chassis design processes, combined with advanced modeling and material selection practices, will drive innovation and enhance pipeline execution. By leveraging these skills, you will streamline design process engagement, enabling faster and more efficient development cycles that position 3M as a bonding solutions leader in the industry. Your strategic approach will foster collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, increase market share, and set new standards for efficiency and performance in automotive engineering.
As a(n) Automotive Structural Sales Specialist, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
Drive Innovation in Design Solutions: Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and implement cutting-edge structural bonding design solutions that meet client needs, leveraging advanced modeling techniques and tapes and adhesives material selection to enhance performance and efficiency.
Develop and Execute Sales Strategies: Formulate and execute strategic sales plans to penetrate new accounts and expand existing accounts, focusing on the automotive structural chassis sector to achieve revenue targets and increase market share.
Build and Maintain Client Relationships: Establish and nurture strong relationships with key stakeholders in the automotive industry, including OEMs and suppliers, to understand their design challenges and provide tailored solutions that drive business growth.
Conduct Market Analysis and Forecasting: Analyze industry trends and competitor offerings to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation, using insights to inform product development and sales strategies that align with market demands.
Facilitate Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product development, engineering, and marketing teams to ensure alignment of sales initiatives with technical capabilities and market positioning, fostering a collaborative environment that accelerates pipeline execution and innovation.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or a related field or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
Demonstrated technical proficiency in automotive structural design principles, materials and advanced modeling techniques
Excellent sales skills, including the ability to negotiate contracts and close deals.
5 years of experience in sales or business development within the automotive sector, with a focus on structural components.
Familiarity with the latest technologies and innovations in automotive manufacturing processes.
Current, valid Driver’s License.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Master’s degree in Business Administration
Experience in managing projects and coordinating cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with clients and industry stakeholders.
Travel: May include up to 30% global travel
