The Solutions Architect is empowered to deliver exceptional client outcomes by designing and guiding the implementation of cutting-edge, enterprise-class cloud solutions. This client-facing technical expert works in close partnership with Account Executives to uncover, design, and deliver optimal architectures using OTAVA’s robust portfolio of cloud, data protection, and managed service offerings.
This position is being filled in one of the following locations: Indianapolis, IN; Denver, CO; Central Texas; Michigan; or the Southeastern United States.
Role Responsibilities
Consultative Pre-Sales and Solution Design
Partner with assigned Account Executives (up to 3) to uncover customer business objectives, technical challenges, and constraints.
Translate business requirements into secure, scalable, and cost-effective technical solutions using technologies such as VMware, Microsoft Azure, Zerto, Veeam, and more.
Produce detailed architecture diagrams and supporting technical documentation for pre-sales engagements.
Participate in scope and design sessions, and ensure alignment with OTAVA’s solution catalog and best practices.
Technical Leadership and Enablement
Serve as a trusted advisor throughout the full sales lifecycle, articulating technical vision, mitigating risks, and validating the feasibility of proposed solutions.
Lead discovery and solutioning sessions with client stakeholders (including technical staff and C-suite).
Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Delivery, and Support teams to ensure smooth hand-offs and client satisfaction.
Surface client challenges and industry trends to internal stakeholders to inform solution development and innovation.
Customer Experience and Influence
Present complex solutions in a clear, compelling manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Establish strong client trust and credibility, becoming a go-to technical resource throughout the pre-sales cycle.
Participate in strategic account planning and quarterly business reviews.
Experience
4+ years of experience in a Solutions Architect or Pre-Sales Engineering role within a cloud, MSP, or channel provider environment.
Deep knowledge of virtualization (VMware), cloud platforms (Azure), backup and DR solutions (Veeam, Zerto), and enterprise storage.
Hands-on experience architecting or implementing cloud, DRaaS, or hybrid environments.
Bonus: Experience with firewalls, networking, Fortinet, Cisco, or advanced security solutions.
Proven ability to influence both technical and executive stakeholders.
Prior exposure to both technical sales and engineering/operations roles preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Exceptional communication, whiteboarding, and presentation skills.
Capable of clearly explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Strong understanding of network architecture and cloud security.
Able to work autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.
Proficient in architecture modeling tools, Visio, and modern collaboration platforms.
Ability to manage multiple concurrent pre-sales engagements across verticals and geographies.

VMware Certified Professional
Veeam VMCE or VMSP
Fortinet NSE, Cisco CCNA/CCNP (bonus)
