FIXED TERM CONTRACT: JULY 2025 to FEB 2026

SYDNEY BASED, INCLUDES INTERSTATE TRAVEL

About the Role:

You love planning events, solving client problems, have an eye for detail and enjoy each step of the process to get there. As an Event Director, you'll lead a small team to turn creative ideas into a reality. You'll make sure our amazing work shines in person, on camera and as memorable experience. You’ll work closely with the Client Service Team to drive impactful work that earns attention and delivers real brand and business outcomes.

This is a hands-on delivery role overseeing an integrated project across sport, culture and entertainment, a creative campaign, digital, social, event activation & live filming, and reports into Octagon’s Head of Client Services, Australia.

 

What we’re looking for:

A natural leader with around 8-10 years’ experience delivering unique live events and activation solutions. Experience in broadcast set-builds, TV production, live filmed events preferable.

We’re after someone who:

  • Explores all avenues for execution — from a client, agency, industry, innovation & best in class perspective
  • Able to build trust and lead conversations with senior clients, internal specialists, and project teams
  • Participates in the development of integrated solutions that leverage agency offerings
  • Is a confident communicator and compelling presenter
  • Is passionate about creative work, and able to oversee and inspire teams from planning through to execution
  • Continually looks for innovative solutions and production methods
  • Executes the integrity of the creative treatment in all deliverables

What you’ll do:

  • Ensure successful project implementation, including major event activation and integrated campaigns.
  • Maintain consistency between programs and processes, and communicate clearly with clients about roles, responsibilities, scope, budget, schedules, and program status.
  • Collaborate with legal and finance teams to ensure compliance with IPG and client standards.
  • Manage HSSE planning and execution, including team safety and contingency planning.
  • Oversee project timelines and key stakeholders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Communicate project status and report on statistics and issues.
  • Address queries from clients, suppliers, and vendors regarding events and activations.
  • Create presentation decks from pitch proposals to event overviews and operation manuals.
  • Work with senior team members, agencies, and stakeholders to meet partnership objectives through an integrated approach.
  • Manage design and creative processes, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Handle client production budgets, find efficiencies, and manage third-party costs through project reconciliation.
  • Lead relationships with third parties, including coordinating contractors and suppliers.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and manage communications and roles between team members, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Demonstrate strong program management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Exhibit strong people management skills and quickly earn the trust of colleagues.
  • Show production competencies such as client focus, accountability, team effectiveness, developing others, attention to detail, flexibility, and professional confidence.
  • Ability to travel interstate for site visits and event periods.
