POSITION SUMMARY
The Asia Area Director is responsible for the overall leadership and management of all of World Concern’s programs in Asia. Lead World Concern staff in successful fundraising, donor relations, consortium building, partnerships, program development, management and expansion of World Concern’s disaster assistance and transformational development programs in Asia. Ensure cohesive alignment of program, country, and organizational strategies to deliver an integrated development approach and reduce extreme poverty.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

DUTIES
1. Leadership, Governance & Management
- Provide strategic leadership to accomplish World Concern's (WC’s) objectives in Asia, including the development and execution of regional and country strategies consistent with the organization’s Global Strategic Plan.
- Through exemplary Christian leadership, personal modeling, discipleship programs, and transparent and accountable relationships, support staff to internalize, pursue, and practice WC’s mission and core values.
- Represent Asia in the World Concern Global Leadership Team and provide field-based perspectives in developing and reviewing World Concern policies and strategic plans.
- Mentor direct reports for improved leadership, decision-making, and increased skill development.
- Backstop Country Directors during vacancies or extended periods of absence.
- Support country leaders to develop and implement Human Resources policies and procedures to promote best member care and ensure compliance with local legislation.
- Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of country-specific safety and security policies and procedures to ensure the security of staff, assets, and people served.
- Through the Senior Director of Operations, keep the World Concern's Senior Leadership Team informed of countries program progress, challenges, security, and all other significant issues.
- Serve as the Board Chair of the Bangladesh World Concern Microcredit.
2. Financial Management
- Collaborate with the Regional Finance personnel to ensure countries comply with World Concern finance policies and procedures and donor requirements.
- Manage the Asia regional budget and closely monitor country budgets and financial reports to guide and ensure compliance with World Concern and donor standards and expectations.
- Support countries’ senior management regarding changes, trends, or developments that might influence programs or pose additional risks to the organization.
3. Program Development and Fund Raising
- Lead the Asia region in integrating World Concern transformational development model in all its programming.
- Provide leadership in grants development - identifying funding opportunities, developing and submitting quality and competitive concepts and proposals, leading in consortium development, and negotiating for grants, etc.
- Advance continuous program quality improvement by supporting the growth of programs’ technical expertise and implementation of robust program monitoring, evaluation, and learning.
- Support donor compliance and adherence to industry best standards.
- Monitor grants implementation to ensure compliance with donor requirements, reporting, and impact.
- Develop and implement an inter-agency networking strategy and partnerships for program growth and increased funding opportunities.
4. Communication, Networking and Public Relations
- Ensure delivery of required fund-raising inputs such as field reports and impact stories to Resource Advancement.
- Ensure effective timely, accurate and professional communication and reporting while keeping confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Act as the bridge between HQ and the field to ensure organizational policies and initiatives are communicated and embraced at all levels and local issues are upscaled to the HQ level.
- Effectively represent World Concern with local governments, UN agencies, foreign government missions, and other regional entities to build a strong organizational reputation and favorable relationships.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervise the Country Directors in Asia and other regional positions as designated.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
CHRIST CENTERED
- Profession that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior.

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education or equivalent. Relevant work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Seven years management experience in relief and development with at least three years in a senior management role.
- Five years managing US Government funded programs.
- Prior experience working in conflict or post-conflict settings.
- Significant experience living and working cross culturally.
- Five years of experience writing quality program proposals.
- Five years of experience in fundraising across a broad spectrum of donors.
- Experience in managing and leading a microcredit program.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION

Broad experience in Word, Excel, Microsoft Office programs, in a network environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- International travel in Asia and other areas, as necessary.
- May travel to remote, harsh, or insecure locations.
- Accommodation may be undesirable and in areas that do not have good hygiene or medical facilities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Master’s degree in development, Leadership or another relevant field.
