Serve as a hands-on technical project manager with development staff and business groups.
Coordinate and communicate with ITD management and staff to coordinate work tasks and resourcing.
Communicate timelines and expectations to technical and business staff.
Collaborate with vendors, consultants, and contractors in the execution of projects including contract management and working with the procurement office(s).
Adhere to VDOT and VITA project management practices and governance requirements; coordinate with VDOT and VITA Project Management Offices.
Maintain project budget, plans, tasks, schedules, risks, and status and disseminate information to team members and customers as defined in the communications plan.
Ensure documentation of requirements and use cases, and facilitate design workshops for assigned projects.
Ensure the definition of test objectives, designed test plans, and test cases for assigned projects.
Provide the management of project milestones and deliverables for on-time and on-budget delivery.
Define, measure, and communicate progress with metrics.
Support system and application training efforts.
Qualifications:
5 years of project experience in IT infrastructure delivery, Network Infrastructure, Network architecture, wireless technologies, Cloud implementation, and vendor management.
Familiarity with telecommunications, network technologies, network standards and practices.
Manage projects consisting of network switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, fiber optics, and internet services.
Experience in the modern fabric-based networks -Network Fabric, underlay, overlay, and SD WAN, Experience with VoIP infrastructure a plus.
Experience managing large, multi-stream projects.
Experience in reviewing carrier bid feedback and presenting carrier/circuit recommendations to the Management Committee for approval.
Work with the cross-functional IT teams to identify/extend, enable, and deliver a scalable, secure, reliable, and cost-effective cloud solution that can be managed and delivered.
Responsibility for integrating technical knowledge and business knowledge to develop innovative solutions to automate project activities.
PMP or Qualified under Commonwealth of Virginia Qualification Standards for IT Project Managers for Category 4 Projects.
Preferred:
Experience in both Agile and Waterfall project management.
Experience in complex office relocation, including networking, security AV, and other office equipment.
