Job description

 

  1. Provide support into the planning of construction activities, working closely with the Project Manager, to identify the events which bring new equipment “on rules”. Target the efficient construction of networks in a manner that minimises electrical risk and the requirement for LV Authorised Person / HV Senior Authorised Person input.
  2. Provide access to substation briefings and assist in the identification and assessment of prospective Competent Persons and LV Authorised Persons.
  3. Ensure that all electrical work is planned and executed in accordance with Client Electrical Distribution Safety Rules, following all associated policies and guidance.
  4. Carry out LV and HV switching operations to facilitate the construction and commissioning activities of new electrical equipment on Major Project construction sites.
  5. Maintain operational schematics during the commissioning and energisation phases of construction.
  6. Ensure all required commissioning has been carried out prior to the energisation of new equipment.
  7. Ensure locking is applied, determine, and apply operational/statutory labels is applied to all equipment prior to coming under safety rules (connection to a system).
  8. Demonstrate effective individual and collective Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental (HSQE) leadership and promote enthusiastic and growth minded HSQE culture.
  9. Maintain “Senior Authorised Person” status by ensuring that key training, audit, and record keeping requirements are met.
  10. Compile Client Risk Assessments and Method Statements, complete operational audits, and site inspections as appropriate assessing against HSQE benchmarks.
  11. Carry out factory inspections as appropriate and manage witnessing and inspections during the commissioning phase of works.
  12. Provide Senior Authorised Person support to the wider business by participating in the call out rota, carrying out site surveys, pricing, scope writing, and delivery of Customer Network schemes as required by business needs.


Requirements

In addition, you will need to demonstrate;

·        Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel.

·        Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.

·        Experience implementing the requirements of Electrical Safety Rules (such as the Energy Network Association Model Distribution Safety Rules).

·        Min 3 to 5 years Electrical Experience on 11kV / 33kV Networks.

·        Electrical Qualification (HNC/HND minimum, Degree desirable).

·        Ability to be authorised at SAP level to 11kV / 33kV.

·        A strong technical background in both LV and HV systems, proven ability to problem solve and fault find on electrical systems and equipment.
