PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

The Research Program Manager for ChristianaCare’s Delaware IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (DE-INBRE) will provide both research administrative and operational oversight of the program within the Institute for Research on Equity and Community Health (iREACH). Along with the DE-INBRE Principal Investigator (PI), the Research Program Manager will act as a primary liaison for cross departmental and organizational collaboration with other IDeA networks, including the Delaware Clinical and Translational Research Program (DE-CTR).

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the research program administration and operational aspects of the INBRE program and related research conducted by the INBRE Principal Investigator, Director of Technology Research and Education.

  • Plan and supervise clinical and translational research projects throughout their lifecycle, including applying for new funding opportunities, monitoring project process, managing study team members, establishing necessary infrastructure and technological support, submitting regulatory documentation, and writing local, national, and academic reports under the direction of the PI and in collaboration with iREACH leadership.

  • Oversee the administration of the undergraduate research program, which includes establishing and coordinating the selection committee, onboarding students, coordinating, and facilitating didactic sessions, organizing clinical shadowing opportunities, facilitating office hours and journal-club opportunities, scheduling meetings with the PI, and managing the logistics for the annual research luncheon.

  • Responsible for preparing and monitoring INBRE internal budgets, spenddowns, and variance reporting for the program and associated pilot grants under the direction of the PI and in collaboration with INBRE and iREACH finance program managers.

  • Responsible for promoting, coordinating, and monitoring all INBRE pilots and supplemental funding opportunities providing research, regulatory, and administrative support to investigators pre-award and post-award, if funded.

  • Prepare research contracts and grant-related documents for submission to research finance, the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), the Institutional Review Board (IRB), the Privacy Office, and external institutions, as necessary, to ensure that grants, reporting requirements, and regulations are met within defined timelines. Monitors local, state, and federal budgets for research and INBRE purposes to ensure project budgets meet the needs of the program, department, and institution.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree preferred, bachelor’s degree required in Health Care Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, Nursing, or related field.  Combination of education and experience in Federal grants administration and research coordination may be considered.

  • 5 years of research and grants experience required.

  • 3 years of project management experience required; certification preferred

  • Clinical background desired.

  • Supervisory or management experience desired.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • The Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) training courses is required and must be completed during orientation:

  • Basic Biomedical Course

  • Conflict of Interest

  • Good Clinical Practice
