Director of Internal Communications

Primary purpose:

Responsible for developing and executing comprehensive internal communication strategies with key business and corporate stakeholders that enhance the brand and colleague experience and contribute to the company culture. Internal communications will align to the company’s objectives and ensure colleagues are informed, inspired and engaged across all channels.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute internal communication strategies for target audiences across a matrix organization with multiple lines of business and corporate departments.
  • Develop communications that align to the company’s objectives, are on-brand, and are served across channels to increase awareness, inspiration and engagement. Serve as a company ambassador to promote the core values and culture through effective communications.
  • Support change management initiatives with effective communication strategies.
  • Collaborate with a team of communications professionals, internal agency writers and designers and web team members to ensure a high-quality communications delivery for the ideal experience.
  • Lead planning and execution for large-scale internal events with key stakeholders such as town halls and company updates with executives and senior leadership.
  • Manage communication distribution to ensure proper distribution to the right audience leveraging HRIS for colleague data and distribution list management across channels.
  • Collaborate for an ideal colleague experience on the company intranet and execute on the platform for communications and helpful resources. Partner with the digital team and internal agency for the ideal user experience.
  • Monitor communication metrics against objectives to assess the effectiveness of strategies.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in communication and keep leadership apprised of opportunities for evolution and modernization.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or a related field.

Eight (8) years of related experience including both corporate communications and agency experience a plus.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proven ability to think strategically and creatively.
  • Ability to leverage brand positioning strategy and company objectives for ideal communications strategies.
  • Strong background in experiential communications to drive engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting and partnering with executives and senior leadership.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills and packaging communication strategies for leadership consumption.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering results and communicating those results concisely and effectively to senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a trusted advisor for senior leaders in relation to marketing and communications.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong digital skills for oversight with execution across channels.
  • Demonstrated experience with cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a fast-paced environment focused on growth.
