The Hardware Engineering directorate leads in the mechanical hardware design, development, and production of weapons systems. We use state-of-the-art tools, processes, and technology, with capabilities encompassing a broad range of technical disciplines, including product engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials engineering, analysis and test, rapid hardware development/builds and configuration and data management documentation.
This role is for a Lab Lead to support Tewksbury, MA and Andover, MA Hardware Engineering labs. In this role, you will manage and implement engineering lab strategic projects and day-to-day administrative functions within multiple engineering labs, with specific focus on safety, security, and compliance using established doctrine and governance.
You will be creative and innovative, possessing strong organizational, coordination, planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills. In this position, you must be able to collaborate with customers, employees, and senior leaders when implementing process and procedural changes.
This position is an onsite role in Tewksbury, MA with travel to Andover, MA. The position will be covering multiple labs in these two locations. Travel between the sites is expected throughout the course of the week.
This role is located on-site in Tewksbury, MA.
What You Will Do
Lab Operating Procedure (LOP) Management; provide direction for lab users on established policies
Management coordination and implementation of Environmental Health Safety and Sustainment
Property & Metrology Management including maintenance of equipment service contracts and ongoing equipment repairs
Perform cost analysis, ensure task completion within approved budgets
Provide process support to Supply Chain Management (SCM)
Oversee audit/assessment preparation. Overseeing Engineering Lab Objective Evaluation and Voluntary Protection Program; develop corrective action plans and assist in the development of long-range objectives, including engineering customer goals
Safeguarding of classified/proprietary material, hardware, and documentation, utilizing defense material/property under Export Administration Regulations
Develop and implement communication plans, providing consulting support to functional and engineering customer management
Work to influence stakeholders within and outside responsibilities at an operational level regarding policies, practices, and procedures
Work autonomously with limited oversight; provide professional input, guidance, and problem solving
This position requires some physical exertion while standing, sitting, or walking, working outside
Local travel in the general area is required, with occasional travel outside the local area
What You Will Learn

Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, and a minimum of 5 years prior relevant professional experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years equivalent professional experience
Experience in an engineering lab environment area such as safety, security, compliance, and/or property management
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer
Strong mechanical and/or electrical/electronic skills
Experience with OSHA/NFPA industrial policies and regulations
Experience with working directly with engineers, technicians and leadership in an engineering lab environment in the areas of safety, security, compliance and property management
Experience with EHS, NISPOM, JAFAN and Foreign Object Elimination
Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
