Job description

Summary:

The Reinsurance Analyst is responsible for calculating and submitting specific and aggregate filings to the reinsurance carriers. The Reinsurance Analyst will act as liaison between the reinsurance community and Health Plans Inc.


Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

•    Conduct financial audits of each claim submission
•    Responsible for calculating specific deductibles on new files
•    Initiate request for funding from client through Fund Accounting
•    Reconcile checks from reinsurance carriers.
•    Provide reports as requested by clients and/or HPI Client Service Representative
•    Format cover letters for Fund Accounting’s check submission to client
•    Collect all pertinent information necessary for filing (re: accident details, other insurance, etc.)
•    Maintain files of each submissions filed and money received


Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or equivalent. Must have 1 - 2 years’ of processing experience, preferably within the self-insured health insurance industry. Must have knowledge of hospital and provider billing procedures; have the ability to interpret and understand plan document language and stop-loss contracts.

Must be able to work independently and as part of a team, be detailed, organized and able to prioritize tasks, work within timeframes and meet deadlines, recognize and maintain confidentiality, and communicate in a professional manner. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel required.


Working Environment/Physical Demands:

The noise level in the work environment is moderate. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, speak, or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands or feel or handle items as well as reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand.
