Job description

Company Overview

With an annual budget of $1.6 billion and more than 6,000 employees throughout the five boroughs, the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC DOHMH) is one of the largest public health agencies in the world, serving 8 million New Yorkers from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. We're tackling a broad range of public health issues with innovative policies and programs and getting exceptional results, but our work is never finished. The breadth of our innovative programs provides the widest range of choices for every member of our team.

The position of NYC Health Panel Administrative Coordinator will be within DOHMH’s Center for Population Health Data Science, Bureau of Epidemiology Services, and reporting to the NYC Health Panel Deputy Panel Manager. The Bureau of Epidemiology Services collects and analyzes data and communicates findings to monitor and improve the health of New Yorkers, and to inform decision making both within and outside of DOHMH.

The selected candidate will be an employee of Public Health Solutions, a nonprofit organization which is the fiscal and administrative manager for much of this project, but all work will be supervised by DOHMHThis position will be based at the Health Department’s office in Long Island City, NY, with the possibility of hybrid work.

The NYC Health Panel is an innovative project that provides the Health Department with important health information in a timely and cost-effective way. To date, NYC Health Panel has recruited about 34,000 adult New Yorkers to join a survey panel that we are using to conduct population health research. Panelists agree to take up to ten surveys per year. NYC Health Panel surveys on COVID-19 have provided critical citywide information on symptom prevalence and treatment, testing, awareness of government recommendations, racial inequities, and adverse mental health. Other NYC Health Panel surveys have assessed social determinants of health, food insecurity, energy insecurity, and other important health issues.
