The Position

A Field Service Engineer is responsible to perform the field service activities for Professional Diagnostics, Molecular Diagnostics, Tissue Diagnostics and Sequencing Units of Roche Diagnostics Australia (RDA) by provision and co-ordination of all activities relating to instrument troubleshooting, instrument installation, instrument preventative maintenance, software and hardware modification’s, relating to both pre and post sales requirements. Service may need to be performed both regionally, interstate and overseas (including PNG) as required.


This service is generally provided based on hours of employment being 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Monday to Friday, and with a requirement to participate in a rotating On-Call Roster to cover the out of hours’ service requirements from 5 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. Monday to Friday and 24 hours Saturday and Sunday. 

What you will be working on:
Field Service Engineers are required to be actively involved with the Account Management Teams and to participate in regular team meetings to capture and report all field activities undertaken, including all labour and travel incurred via CRM system. 

Key Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Ensure the timely pre-installation inspection and installation of Roche and other analytical systems

  • Liaise with the Regional Engineering Manager, and work closely with Application Specialists, Lab IT Specialists, Project Manager and the Account Management Teams to ensure successful installations occur

  • Ensure all Preventative Maintenance work is carried out in a timely manner as per the manufactures guidelines and notify the Regional Engineering Manager for any overdue or incomplete Preventative Maintenance work. 

  • Ensure any ongoing instrument problems or issues are communicated to the Regional Engineering Manager, Head of Service & Support, Account Manager, Marketing Team and or manufacturer.

  • Be an integral part of the teams and RDA as a whole and openly communicate within Roche all issues relevant to those involved

  • Ensure Spare Part Management and Boot Stock Accuracy

  • Identify any training deficiencies and inform the Regional Engineering Manager

  • Compliance with all Roche Processes as documented in policies and procedures, Roche Code of Conduct and Industry Code/s of Practice

  • Ensure compliance and promotion of all safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety, health and wellbeing of all employees and visitors

Who you are:
Being result driven, you are someone who wants to influence your own development and working in a multicultural environment motivates you. You have:

  • Electrical/Electronic tertiary or equivalent qualification

  • At least 3 years’ experience working in customer services related fields within Medical Diagnostic Industry preferred

  • Experience with IT and Middleware systems a plus

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

  • Strong customer empathy and interaction skills

  • Proven track record in data connectivity, troubleshooting and resolution

  • Good business acumen
