The Summer Worker performs a variety of duties which involves independent judgement and discretion. The Summer Worker only works during the summer months of May and August; the Summer Worker provides additional support to the departments in order to meet goals, objectives and project deadlines.
Core Responsibilities:
Reviews project assignments in order to make decisions.
Identifies and resolves issues using independent judgment and discretion.
Participates in general event planning and implementation.
Collaborates with key internal stakeholders as need to assist department with meeting deadlines.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Department Specific Functions:
This position is for first year medical students to conduct clinical research under the auspices of a faculty mentor for the duration of their appointment in the NIH T-35 training program, UM-KIIMERA. Duties will include data collection, data entry, data analysis, and preparing presentations and disseminating research outcomes. They may also shadow their supervisor if the supervisor has clinical duties. The description is not exhaustive and may be subject to change.
Performs literature research.
Compiles reference and statistical data into standard formats.
Analyzes and presents data and information in written, oral or graphical forms.
Documents experiment results and draws tentative conclusions.
Prepares and conducts literature reviews on proposed topics.
Maintains accurate records of research protocols documentation.
Participates in the preparation of research papers and abstracts.
Coordinates database management.
Performs special projects and assignments in a timely fashion.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent required, Undergraduate degree preferred
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
In good academic standing in 1st year of medical school (MS1) preferred

Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure.
Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
Ability to understand and follow instructions.
Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
