Working hours: Double Days 6am-2pm / 2pm- 10pm alternating, Monday-Friday 8-4:00pm

Salary: £17.84 per hr + 20% shift premium.

Who are we?

We are Kraft-Heinz Kitt Green - Home of our world-famous Heinz Baked Beans, "Nourishing the Nation" and in production since 1959! You will be joining one of the world's best loved Food & Beverage brands, as well as one of the most iconic FMCG factories in Europe.

About the Role

We are on the hunt for a Food Safety Inspector to come and play a critical role in safeguarding the integrity of our commercial sterilisation processes!

As a key member of our Quality team, you'll be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety, reviewing and reconciling ISM-related records to guarantee the positive release of goods. You'll also be the go-to expert for providing remedial advice and mentorship in the event of process deviations, equipment failures, or other serious incidents. Plus, you'll have the chance to create a real impact through auditing compliance across all areas of the factory and delivering training on ISM principles, critical control points, and operator proficiency.

If you're a quality assurance expert with a passion for perfection, we want to hear from you!

What You'll Be Doing

  • Reviewing and reconciling ISM-related Filling and Sterilising Records, approving Posrel or requesting quarantine/stop lines as needed.
  • Conduct independent checks of filling and sterilising operations.
  • Perform area housekeeping audits with operations team leaders to ensure compliance.
  • Act as a Thermal Processing Expert, providing remedial advice in case of process deviations/equipment failures.
  • Train filling and sterilising operators in Canning & ISM Principles.
  • Review shift SAP notifications prior to Posrel.
  • Raise ISM Observations and Non-Compliances, agreeing on actions to safeguard products and prevent recurrence.
  • Prepare ISM compliance and observation reports, maintaining relevant databases.
  • Collect Process and Cooling water samples for Microbiology.
  • Support Process Establishment (e.g., Heat-penetration Tests and Sterilising Temperature Distribution Tests).
  • Plan and prioritise own workload based on line running and department needs.

What You'll Have

  • Degree Level in Food Science, or Degree in Science / Labs-based field of study.
  • Experience in thermal processing would be highly advantageous.
  • Food Safety and Quality (FSQ) focus, outstanding and high attention to detail.
  • Data-driven, working with large data sets to make impactful, commercial decisions with a Food Safety lens.
  • Experience in sterilising operations (e.g. sterilising operator, controller, co-ordinator).
  • Good interpersonal skills – verbal and writing to all levels in operations and quality.
  • Ready to challenge the status quo - you'll need to be robust in your ability to challenge, coach and mentor.
  • Experience in a canning production environment would be a nice to have but not an essential.
