The Blackstone Operating Team (BXOT) includes over 100 dedicated senior advisors, industry leading professionals, and passionate operators who are committed to building resilient, successful businesses across the globe. Our team works together with Portfolio Company leadership to develop and implement industry leading strategies in Healthcare, Cybersecurity, Technology and Data Science, ESG and Sustainability, and Spend Management with an emphasis on Talent Development and Leadership.

The Spend Management operating team supports over 240 global investment vehicles in the flagship Private Equity fund, Core, Tactical Opportunities, Infrastructure, Life Sciences, Energy, and Growth with access to a Group Purchasing Platform and best in class eSourcing team and Sourcing Center to unlock value creation and enable and professionalize procurement organizations at those portfolio companies. The Group Purchasing Platform leverages more than $30B of global spend across the Blackstone ecosystem of portfolio companies to drive value creation and differentiated service and quality for more than 75 indirect spend categories.

Job Description

The Analyst will support strategic deployment of the Group Purchasing Spend Management platform and program management of value creation initiatives with Portfolio Companies across Blackstone’s private equity strategies. They will use strong analytical and quantitative skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, detailed project management expertise, and general business knowledge including financial acumen and familiarity with operating metrics to support c-suite and executive leadership teams at portfolio companies seeking to accelerate value creation and implement Spend Management best practices for their businesses.  

The Analyst will support the Group Purchasing program management and continuous improvement focusing on KPI tracking and reporting and vendor management, service, quality, and performance improvement.

The Analyst will also support networking and community building across Blackstone portfolio companies focusing on contact management, coordination of outreach, and planning of events.

Responsibilities

  • Support deployment of Spend Management platform including developing value creation opportunity assessments, supporting due diligence, facilitating vendor connections, and tracking, executing, and summarizing impact
  • Execute meticulous project management including cadence check-in calls, email communication, and issue escalation to resolution between portfolio companies and vendor partners to resolve challenges and accelerate execution and maintenance of Salesforce.com project tracking
  • Actively support day-to-day training, work prioritization, quality control and process improvement for our Spend Management COE (Center of Excellence) off-shore team resource
  • Collaborate across teams, business units, and groups at Blackstone and with off-shore supporting team members to delegate and execute tasks
  • Use SAP Ariba and Sigma business intelligence tools to identify opportunities for value creation within portfolio companies and across categories
  • Support RFQ/RFPs opportunity identification, project development, and scope creation with portfolio companies using the Spend Management eSourcing solutions and Blackstone Sourcing Center
  • Support the Spend Management vendor performance management process to track and address service issues and opportunities to drive differentiated service levels across the portfolio
  • Encourage engagement and promote the Blackstone procurement community supporting talent management, training and development of the annual Procurement Excellence program, and community events and communications for portfolio company spend management organizations
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Blackstone stakeholders on Deal Teams, Operating Executives, Finance, IT, Technology, Legal & Compliance, Public Affairs, etc. to report performance and to share data, trends, and insights from the procurement community
  • Lead both the US and EU CPO Conference’s planning, design, facilitation, and execution including working closely with Blackstone Events planning
  • Support internal process improvement programs including portfolio company data requests and analysis, and other internal process improvement opportunities.
  • Occasional travel to portfolio companies and team conferences globally to support objectives and responsibilities.

Qualifications:

Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who are highly motivated, intelligent and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors. An ideal candidate has demonstrated or achieved:

  • Undergraduate degree with a focus in engineering, operations, supply chain, or business management
  • 1+ years’ work experience preferably in operations, procurement, category management, or sourcing
  • Interest in being “hands on” doer to support the program and team
  • Superb interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication in strategic, financial, and operational areas
  • Confidence and presence to interface with senior executives across many functional business areas
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills and proficiency with program management tools including Excel, PowerPoint, Salesforce.com, and other data management applications
  • Well organized and disciplined approach to work effort and project management
  • Active listening skills with the intellectual agility to integrate new information and develop recommendations
  • Establishes fact-based recommendations and decision making
  • Works independently and navigate a dynamic environment including cross-functional collaboration to accomplish tasks
  • Manages one’s workload and prioritize tasks effectively to meet multiple competing deadlines

Expected annual base salary range:

$100,000 - $125,000

Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.

Additional compensation: Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits offered in connection with the advertised role.
