Build your career at Iress!

As a Graduate Engineer at Iress, you will contribute to the development and support of our software products by working as part of a collaborative engineering team. You will be guided by more experienced engineers as you learn how to write clean, maintainable, and secure code, and begin to understand the full software development lifecycle—from design and development to deployment and support.

You’ll have the opportunity to build your skills in one or more technical areas such as software development, data, security, or reliability, and start developing your understanding of the Wealth business domain. This role is designed to support your growth as a professional engineer, combining hands-on technical experience with the chance to learn best practices and contribute to meaningful outcomes for Iress and our clients.

Some of the awesome things you’ll be involved with:

  • Contributes to the development and maintenance of software by writing clean, functional code under the guidance of more experienced engineers. Learn how to incorporate testing, security, and performance considerations into code.

  • Participates in team discussions and activities related to requirements, solutions, and features. Offers input and seeks clarification to build understanding of both technical and business contexts.

  • Assists in investigating and resolving software issues, supporting team efforts to deliver high-quality and reliable solutions.

  • Works collaboratively with teammates, demonstrating a positive attitude and willingness to learn. Contributes to team goals and actively seeks opportunities to improve.

  • Learns the importance of knowledge sharing and supports documentation of work to help reduce reliance on individuals and ensure team sustainability.

  • Builds relationships with other engineers and teams. Open to feedback and actively seeks mentoring and support to build skills and confidence.

  • Takes ownership of assigned tasks and manages time effectively. Communicates progress, challenges, and dependencies early to support team planning and delivery.

What you will bring:

  • Has completed tertiary studies in software engineering, computer science, or a related discipline, and may have worked on university, internship, or personal projects involving software development.

  • Demonstrates a growth mindset—curious, open to feedback, and motivated to learn from challenges and successes.

  • Brings a collaborative approach to teamwork, with a willingness to contribute ideas, ask questions, and try new things—even when unsure of the outcome.

  • Shows an interest in building and supporting software that is used in real-world environments and is eager to learn how production systems are maintained and monitored.

  • Understands the basics of version control, code quality, and testing practices, and is willing to build knowledge in areas such as automated testing and continuous integration.

  • Familiar with or interested in learning Agile ways of working, including regular team collaboration, iterative delivery, and feedback loops.

  • Has basic exposure to one or more programming languages or technologies such as Python, Java, JavaScript, React or TypeScript, and is open to working across different parts of the technology stack (front-end, back-end, data, etc.).

  • Communicates clearly, works well with others, and shows professionalism and accountability in their work and behaviour.

  • Enthusiastic about using technology to solve problems and create value for users and clients.

  • Willing to learn about cloud infrastructure, DevOps practices, and deployment pipelines, with support from senior engineers.

  • Understands that delivering quality software is a shared responsibility and is keen to contribute to a positive and inclusive team environment.
