Quality Supervisor - Nights

Position Overview

Shaw Industries is recruiting for a Quality Supervisor to help drive excellence in every product we deliver. You'll lead quality techs, ensure compliance across operations, and play a key role in customer satisfaction—both inside and outside the plant. This role is located in South Pittsburg, Tennessee.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Must be able to effectively work with external customers and internal employees.
  • Review and assist the Quality Manager in making disposition of any non-conforming materials or products.
  • Initiate and maintain “Quality Hold Areas” within the facility.
  • Assure timely disposition and movement of any on hold material throughout facility.  This requires involvement of departmental leaders.
  • Supervise shift quality control technician(s) while performing quality functions.
  • Supervise incoming inspections of critical raw materials.
  • Assist Quality Manager on any internal trials (i.e. new products).
  • Responsible for publishing quality reports as they relate to inspections and production.
  • Assist the Quality Manager in designing, implementing and maintaining the plants SMS system.
  • Maintain inventory control of all product visual standards.
  • Facilitate, schedule, assist in collection and shipment of Green Guard samples
  • Must be able to perform all Quality Lab Tests.
  • Handle the procurement and monitoring of all necessary quality items (i.e. tools, measuring equipment, etc.).
  • Assist in the design, implementation and maintenance of the SAFE & TPM modules required for Shaw associates in SMS.
  • Supervise all Corrective Action System for SMS.
  • Supervise all Document Control System for SMS through the plant’s Google website.
  • Supervise all Quality Alert System for SMS.
  • Assist the Quality Manager with maintaining MOC (Management of Change) within the requirements of SMS.
  • Review production set up and run data through the use of Infinity, Splunk, Minitab and Google sheets.
  • Assist and be an active participant in any of the facilities trials (XR’s, HMTR’s, etc.)
  • Assist the Quality Manager in tracking and monitoring the facilities claims through the use of Google sheets, Splunk, Minitab, GLink, Shop Floor, Onbase and Financial Claims System.
  • Maintain and update the facilities goals & objectives as they relate to quality and in accordance with the plant imperatives.
  • Perform all duties using safe work methods.
  • Work normally scheduled days adhering to starting and stopping times. Work overtime as required.
  • Communicate any problem or concerns to the Quality Manager in a timely fashion through the use of email, text or Google chat.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager; including special projects, material studies, and trips related to claims activities/inspections.
  • Must be willing to travel to job sites to address any quality related issues.
  • Must be able to perform standard quality field tests – gloss, moisture, etc. Maintain housekeeping standards.
  • Actively participate and lead, when necessary, internal and external SMS audits.
  • Assist with plant black belt projects.
  • Participate in QIT, RCFA, and EIT meetings as needed.
  • Must be certified to use Kronos and capable of resolving Kronos issues as needed.
  • Must maintain and periodically review Certificate of Analysis (COA) for vendors.
  • Demonstrates the capability to resolve claim issues through interaction with Financial Services.
  • Assist with request from Categories Management on quality related issues. Assist with the scheduling, collection and shipment of TPC testing material. Assist with writing articles for the facility’s quarterly newsletter.
  • Responsible for the updating of quality boards throughout the facility.  
  • Establish, maintain and coordinate the calibration of instruments for testing and verification of material throughout the facility.
  • Assist in the training and development of new quality control technicians

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be detail oriented and effective problem solving skills.
  • Familiarity with current computer systems and software.
  • Previous leadership/supervisory experience required
  • Certified on the Farnsworth-Munsell Color Hue test.
