In Financial Services, we support the Group’s strategy of building tomorrow’s bank today for our customers, through a focus on three key priorities of trust, resilience and capital generation. Financial Services partner with all areas of CommBank to specialist advice, support and services in finance, audit, treasury, property, procurement, climate strategy and investor relations.

See yourself in our team

The Capital & Regulatory Reporting Crew oversees capital and reporting changes, including Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) reporting. Our ESG reporting change team collaborates with the ESG Reporting & Data team to deliver solutions that support the Group’s commitment to Australia’s net zero transition by 2050, by continuing to manage the risks and opportunities of climate change, supporting our customers and calling for an inclusive transition.

Our responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring regulatory compliance with capital and reporting standards
  • Maintaining capital and reporting systems
  • Managing business changes impacting capital and reporting (e.g., new products, system changes, unique transactions)
  • Coordinating business engagement, readiness, and technology for APRA changes
  • Developing and implementing the ESG reporting engine
  • Leveraging Group Strategic Platforms to meet new regulatory capital and reporting requirements

Do work that matters

You will work within a newly formed team with experienced colleagues who are responsible for developing and maintaining a climate reporting solution that is aligned with internal and regulatory requirements.  The team operates in Agile, with squads primarily comprised of Finance and Technology SMEs. To successfully perform this role, you will need to build strong relationship with a wide range of stakeholders across the Group.

You will be responsible for working through any changes required to the ESG reporting engine including those arising from:

  • The refinement of existing ESG reporting requirements and treatments.

We’re interested in hearing from people who will aspire to

  • Work with ESG policy to support implementation of any changes required in GTRS arising from changes in ESG regulations or interpretations;
  • Work alongside reporting teams, business units, and technology stakeholders, to understand the requirements needed to develop solutions which correctly calculate emissions and glidepaths, based on the relevant standards. Solutions may be required due to changes in upstream systems, introduction of new products, or new data sources;
  • Propose a solution addressing these requirements, considering the likely impacts on ESG measures e.g. glidepaths, financed emissions;
  • Implement changes within the business rules engine, or working alongside developers to implement the solution, as needed;
  • Ensure test results are as expected, including socialising test outcomes and obtaining sign-offs;
  • Assess the impact to climate reporting of new products, and assisting with adhoc requests from Investor Relations and other internal and external parties;

Other qualities you may possess include

  • Proficient in ESG reporting standards and financial systems
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in IT, Finance, or Risk, along with industry certifications
  • Over 7 years of experience in banking, ESG, finance, or risk roles
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to trace issues to their source
  • Innovative and capable of driving results across diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to simplify complex topics and problems
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience with Python, Ab Initio, SQL or similar data software
  • Resilient with a focus on results and delivery; able to quickly reprioritize tasks
  • Curious mindset, striving for continuous improvement and embracing new technologies
  • Proven ability to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously
