Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Underwriter to manage and price a large group book of business. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the achievement of key performance targets, including revenue, margin, and membership growth. You will work closely with the Sales team to develop competitive, strategic proposals that meet client needs while aligning with organizational goals. This position requires a strong foundation in risk assessment, financial analysis, and market dynamics to support sustainable and profitable business growth.What You’ll Do
Manage a Book of Business with up to 100,000 members and representing up to $350,000,000 in premium or premium equivalent.
Meet or exceed Business Segment revenue, margin, membership, persistency goals.
Provide consultative service to both internal and external customers.
Has the authority to make decisions within the bounds stipulated by Underwriting Management and departmental policies.
Produce regular and ad hoc reports for Underwriting Management.
Analyze underwriting risk and determines premium rates for fully insured groups and funding rates for ASO groups.
Utilize technical expertise to make recommendations regarding benefit and funding plan design options. Assist with underwriting process and system changes.
Participate in final rate and benefit discussions with Sales and external group customers.
May assist with the development and provision of training to the underwriting staff, sales staff, and other departments in the principles and practices of underwriting and rating.
What You Bring
Bachelor's degree or advanced degree (where required)
3+ years of experience in related field.
In lieu of degree, 5+ years of experience in related field.

Eagerness to learn underwriting principles, guidelines, and industry regulations.
Resourceful in identifying issues and proposing effective solutions.
Ability to work independently and with a team.
The ability to work to a deadline and manage competing priorities.
Knowledge and experience working in Excel.
Experience with Blue Quote, Facets, and Salesforce
