Job description

The ServiceNow Platform Engineer is responsible for the development, management, and continuous enhancement of the ServiceNow platform within the organization. This role ensures that the platform aligns with business strategies, delivers robust technical solutions, and supports a wide range of modules such as IT Service Management (ITSM), Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM), and IT Operations Management (ITOM). The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams, leads technical initiatives, and serves as a subject matter expert to drive platform stability, scalability, and innovation.

What You'll Do:

  • Administer, configure, and maintain the ServiceNow platform, with a focus on ITSM and SPM application

  • Manage out-of-the-box functionality, perform necessary enhancements, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance

  • Develop and implement fixes for bugs and issues in ServiceNow production environments

  • Design, develop, and customize ServiceNow applications, including forms, fields, workflows, dashboards, and reports based on business requirements

  • Oversee change control and coordinate the release management process for ServiceNow

  • Ensure data integrity and security by managing the CMDB schema, data imports, exports, and reporting within the ServiceNow platform

  • Serve as the technical expert for ServiceNow design, support, and troubleshooting issues

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions

  • Maintain and continually improve implemented ServiceNow modules, ensuring they are current, reliable, and meet service level agreements

  • Create and maintain knowledge base articles and technical documentation to support user adoption and platform governance. · Resolve incidents and service requests promptly, ensuring high availability and performance of the platform

  • Lead or participate in platform integrations with other enterprise tools and systems, including API development and management

  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the overall growth and knowledge-sharing within the ServiceNow engineering community

  • Implement, configure, and maintain Now Assist and other AI-powered features within the ServiceNow platform to automate routine tasks, enhance user experience, and drive productivity through generative AI capabilities such as incident summarization, code generation, virtual agent, and contextual assistance for end users and administrators

  • Develop comprehensive training materials and curricula to support ServiceNow platform adoption across internal teams
  • Lead interactive training sessions, workshops, and hands-on labs tailored to different user roles and proficiency levels
  • Design and document user acceptance test (UAT) cases and scenarios aligned with business requirements for integration initiatives
  • Collaborate with QA, business analysts, and project stakeholders to validate functional workflows and data integrity across connected systems in ServiceNow
  • Implement ServiceNow Test Automation Framework and tools to streamline and scale UAT execution, ensuring repeatability and traceability
  • Track UAT results, manage defect lifecycle, and contribute to go-live readiness by ensuring stakeholder sign-off on critical functionality.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • 2+ years of experience administering and developing on the ServiceNow platform, including ITSM and other core modules
  • Proficiency in ServiceNow scripting (JavaScript, GlideScript), REST and SOAP integrations, and ServiceNow development tools
  • Experience with CMDB, IT Asset Management, and workflow development
  • Strong understanding of ServiceNow architecture, data models, and best practices for platform security and compliance
  • Demonstrated experience in creating and maintaining ServiceNow objects such as tables, business rules, client scripts, UI actions, UI policies, and script includes
  • Experience with API integrations and automation within ServiceNow
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional, agile team
  • ServiceNow certifications strongly preferred, such as:
    • o ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)
    • o ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD)
    • o ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) in ITSM, SPM, ITOM, or other relevant modules
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes and Agile methodologies is desirable.
