Salary Range:    $95000.00 - $115000.00 Salary/year
Description

This position is considered Hybrid with an expectation to be in the Rosemont, IL office 1-3 times a month for All Staff Meetings, trainings, and department meetings. The compensation for this role will be based on experience within the given range on the job posting.

SUMMARY

This position will serve as an internal research expert who understands and applies research methods to analyze large data sets to implement and facilitate healthcare-related research to support the AANA’s Strategic Plan. The role requires excellent skills in data analysis, including the ability to synthesize and exhibit research findings through visualizations, communication for oral presentations and written documents. The AANA environment allows independent work to generate new ideas, all with minimal supervision. All staff are expected to foster a workplace culture that promotes divergent thinking, openness, respect and trust.  

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Evaluate published research regarding anesthesia care. This may involve preparing a summary, evaluating the methodology, and assessing evidence of the claims.

Conduct original research and reporting including identification of large data sources, statistical analysis, and documentation and communication of methodology and results.

Enviroscan for studies impacting anesthesia and identifying trends to proactively identify areas of research.

Execute projects that provide analytics (the combination of predictive/descriptive models and tools that guide decision making) that support data-driven decision making.

Conduct primary or secondary research in response to requests for information.

Develop appropriate research plans and study designs and effectively communicate them with internal staff.

Disseminate findings to internal and external groups via multiple sources such as executive summaries, white papers, journal publications, and meetings.

Develop clear project documentation, program algorithms and analysis outputs to ensure accuracy and replication.

Provide project management support and consultation for projects contracted to external organizations.

Maintain a record of research resources, data sources and electronic databases to be obtained for purposes of research and analysis. Serve as a subject matter expert on the data available and the technical mechanisms that provide information to stakeholders.

Manage, manipulate and analyze large data sets using data analysis programs such as but not limited to STATA and Power BI.

Provide support to members and internal staff regarding research and data requests.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Experience must include at least 5 years of working with large data sets and analyses.
  • Survey research or measurement experience required with a strategic approach to problem solving.
  • Experience with statistical, data mining or other advanced data analytics concepts.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

  • MS (PhD preferred) Statistics, Biostatistics, Health Services Research, Sociology, Psychology, Economics, Public Health, Health Policy or related technical area of life-sciences, mathematics, etc. Preference with background in health policy and demonstrated skills in quantitative research including statistical analysis or a combination of relevant education and experience.
