Treatment includes a multidisciplinary team consisting of case managers, therapists, psychiatrists, recreation therapist, nursing staff, and milieu staff. Residents are certified for six months, and the average length of stay is approximately 9 months. The residents attend school onsite through the Tacoma School District and classrooms are supported by paraeducators and behavioral health technicians.
The behavioral health technician (BHT) role involves creating a safe and therapeutic environment, facilitating group activities, and assisting with daily living tasks of youth who are receiving inpatient treatment for serious mental health challenges.
