Job description

Classification: Full Time
Location: Québec/Remote

Yellow Brick Games is seeking an Art Director to own the art vision and inspire our art team on our next game. In this role, you’ll work closely with character artists, environment artists, concept artists and technical artists to ensure our game visuals meet quality and performance standards. You’ll be responsible for building, mentoring, and growing our art team and vision.

Yellow Brick Games is based in Quebec City, Canada with a secondary location in Montreal, and we are open to discuss remote-work situations. Responsibilities
  • Mentor, work with, and empower the art leadership team and art team from characters to creatures to world to build a visually stunning game that fulfills the game’s vision with quality and consistency.
  • Provide hands-on direction and feedback during all stages of production, from pre-production to final polish.
  • Collaborating with the fellow directors from all departments to ensure that the game’s visuals align with the project’s aesthetic, gameplay, and narrative needs.
  • Overseeing the production roadmap of the entire art team (both internal and external), with the help the Production Manager and Art Leads, to ensure a healthy timeline and scope.
  • Establish and maintain documentation for art pipelines, style guides, and best practices.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience as an Art Director in the video game industry, with at least two shipped titles (pc/console).
  • Expert knowledge in any 3D modeling software (e.g: Maya, 3dsMax, or Blender), sculpting software (e.g: Zbrush) and texturing software (e.g: Photoshop, Substance Painter).
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating a mastery from characters to world design.
  • Deep understanding of visual storytelling, composition, color theory, and design principles.
  • Experience with modern development pipelines and understanding of technical constraints in game art.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Passionate about innovation, artistic expression, and creating unforgettable gameplay experiences.
Nice to Have
  • Knowledge of the latest version of the Unreal Engine or past experience shipping with the tool.
