Job description

Ignite Career Readiness Instructor (Summer 2025 - Spring 2026)

(Remote, Part-time, Seasonal)

ABOUT AI4ALL

AI4ALL is a national nonprofit that is transforming the pipeline of AI practitioners and creating a more inclusive, human-centered discipline. We empower students to be AI Changemakers by cultivating an environment where they develop skills in critical thinking and relationship-building, and expertise in responsible AI.

To accomplish this, we seek students from communities that have been excluded in the AI space. Then we help them build identity in the field, and tap into their own agency and initiative as they build technical and leadership skills. While all are welcome to apply, AI4ALL prioritizes students whose race, gender, or ethnicity has been historically excluded from AI: Black, Hispanic and Latinx, and Indigenous folks; and women and non-binary folks. Our programs run in partnership with colleges and universities around North America.

We are launching the diverse next generation of AI changemakers through education, ethics, and relationship-driven networks. AI4ALL has received funding from Melinda Gates/Pivotal Ventures, Prudential Financial, Accenture, General Motors, and SoftBank among others and has been featured in the New York Times, TIME, CNN, The Washington Post, USA Today, and The Atlantic.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a Career Readiness Instructor to join our instruction team. AI4ALL Ignite is a national accelerator that equips college students with the tools to land their first AI/ML internship. As a Career Readiness Instructor, you’ll lead engaging virtual workshops that help students polish their resumes, ace technical interviews, and grow their professional network.

This 7-week, part-time role (9–12 hours/week) includes access to a ready-to-use curriculum, collaboration with a supportive program team, and the chance to make a direct impact on the future of responsible AI. You’ll work remotely, respond to student needs throughout the week, and report to the Instruction Manager.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
Specifically, the Career Readiness Instructor will:

Host 2 Classes Each Week:

  • Facilitate weekly hands-on virtual workshops covering resume reviews, technical interview practice, internship planning, and other career readiness topics
  • Occasionally invite and moderate guest speakers who can share insights about AI careers and hiring

Support Students Along the Way:

  • Communicate weekly with a Career Readiness Student Coordinator (SC) to identify student needs and coordinate timely outreach
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive virtual classroom environment where all students feel seen and encouraged

Engage in Continuous Improvement:

  • Participate in Career Readiness Instructor Onboarding and 2–3 professional development workshops per semester (schedule provided in advance)
  • Join biweekly debriefing sessions with the Instruction Manager to reflect on progress and align on best practices

WHO YOU ARE

The Career Readiness Instructor position calls for a passionate educator who can translate AI4ALL’s mission into meaningful, student-centered career development experiences and who thrives in virtual learning environments. Specifically, this hire will bring:

  • At least 1–2 years of experience in career readiness or career development programming
  • At least 1–2 years of teaching or facilitation experience with high school and/or college students, especially using hands-on and inclusive pedagogy
  • Instructional Expertise: Able to deliver engaging, interactive virtual lessons that center student participation and practical skill-building
  • Career Development Insight: Familiarity with the internship and early-career landscape in AI/ML and the ability to guide students through the application and interview process
  • Equity-Driven Mindset: Demonstrates a strong commitment to increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion in artificial intelligence and education
  • Higher Ed Context Awareness: Understands college student culture and the opportunities and challenges of delivering co-curricular programs in a remote setting
  • Comfort with email (Gmail), Slack, Google Workspace, Zoom, and virtual teaching platforms
  • Must be available to teach two 2-hour classes per week

We’d prefer candidates who:

  • Are passionate about increasing diversity and inclusion in artificial intelligence.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment; adaptability is key.
  • Have experience working with populations who have been historically excluded from the AI sector.

In addition, AI4ALL staff embody a commitment to our values of inclusion, humanity, technology, agency, learning, and education.

We know there is research that shows women and minorities are less likely to apply for jobs if they don’t have all of the key skills for a position. AI4ALL encourages candidates with some, but not all, of the skills listed in the job description to apply.

WHAT WE OFFER

AI4All strives to be an employer-of-choice, we offer:

  • The pay rate is $38 per hour for approximately 12 hours per week (preparing for and teaching 2 classes) for a total duration of 7 weeks; instructing a third class adds 3 hours per week for approximately 15 hours per week.
  • Monthly check-ins and professional development offered by AI4ALL will be compensated according to the hourly rate and typically last 1.25 hours.
  • A commitment to developing leaders from within the organization.
  • An organizational culture and work-life balance that supports staff well-being.
  • Ample opportunities to connect with the students and communities we serve.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND LOCATION

AI4ALL has transitioned to a remote-first organization, enabling staff from across the country to work together in a virtual environment. Work is performed both independently and collaboratively.
