Focus: Building and securing the foundational layer of the cloud infrastructure, including the GitLab infrastructure utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement standardized runtime environments on GKE, leveraging GKE Enterprise features for security and scalability.
  • Configure and manage service mesh (Istio) for traffic management, security, and observability within the runtime environments.
  • Develop and implement automation for deploying and managing applications within the runtime environments, using GitOps principles.
  • Optimize runtime environments for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency, collaborating with application teams to understand their needs.
  • Ensure the security of the runtime environments by implementing appropriate security policies, network controls, and access management.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of GitOps pipelines for deploying and managing applications in the runtime environments.
  • Integrate GitLab CI/CD pipelines with GitOps tools (e.g., Argo CD) for automated deployments and rollbacks.
  • Implement security and compliance checks within GitLab CI/CD pipelines to ensure secure deployments.
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize their use of GitLab and GitOps for application development and deployment.
Requirements
  • Deep understanding of GKE and its advanced features, including security, networking, and cluster management.
  • Expertise in service mesh configuration and management for optimizing application performance and security.
  • Strong understanding of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and their application in building scalable runtime environments.
  • Proficiency in automation tools and scripting languages for managing and deploying applications.
  • Deeper understanding of GitLab CI/CD and its integration with GitOps workflows.
  • Proficiency in using GitLab for source code management, issue tracking, and collaboration.
  • Working knowledge of container runtimes and microservice architecture
  • Working knowledge of advanced zero-trust concepts and their implementation in GCP, including Access Context Manager, IAP, and Private Service Connect, to secure access to the runtime environments.

Required Certifications:

  • Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer
