Role Name: Senior Bookkeeper/Accounting Specialist

Schedule:

  • 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 2:30 AM - 11 AM EST with .5 hour unpaid break

Job Description

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced bookkeeper to make a significant impact by leading complex accounting remediation projects while building long-term client relationships. You’ll tackle challenging cleanup work that requires expert-level skills, working with clients who need sophisticated financial reconstruction spanning multiple years. The role combines immediate project-based work with exciting long-term growth potential, offering the chance to become an integral part of a practice that’s scaling its operations and elevating its service standards. You’ll work directly with recently hired CPAs and contribute to implementing improved accounting methodologies for high-value clients.

Responsibilities
  • Lead comprehensive accounting cleanup projects, correcting financial records spanning 2-3 years of historical data
  • Reconstruct complete financial records for clients starting from scratch, building accurate books for businesses that haven’t filed taxes in multiple years
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve complex accounting discrepancies and errors using professional judgment and technical expertise
  • Prepare and process sophisticated journal entry corrections and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy
  • Manage QuickBooks Online implementations and optimizations for diverse small business clients across multiple industries
  • Support tax return amendment processes by providing accurate, corrected financial data and documentation
  • Handle time-sensitive S corporation and other entity filings with strict September and October deadlines
  • Collaborate with CPAs and senior staff to implement enhanced accounting standards and best practices for high-revenue clients
  • Manage ongoing bookkeeping responsibilities for 20-25+ client accounts with potential for portfolio expansion
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on bookkeeping and accounting experience with US-based companies
  • Expert-level proficiency in QuickBooks Online with demonstrated ability to handle complex implementations and corrections
  • Strong command of US GAAP accounting principles and their practical application
  • Proven experience with S corporation accounting, tax compliance, and filing requirements
  • Advanced skills in identifying and resolving complex accounting errors, discrepancies, and balance sheet issues
  • Experience with tax return amendment processes and supporting documentation requirements
  • Exceptional attention to detail with ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines and pressure
  • Excellent English communication skills with ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly
  • Demonstrated success working with diverse small business clients across various industries (restaurants, contractors, mechanics, service businesses)
  • Experience managing client portfolios with revenue ranges from $500K to $1M+ annually
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with CPAs and senior accounting professionals
