Overview of Position
The Strategic Initiatives Manager - Reinsurance is responsible for leading a transformation team within the Reinsurance finance team to drive the successful execution of a multi-year system transformation effort. This role will manage all aspects of the project including completing complex requirement gathering, project communications, cross functional coordination, manage road maps and timelines, track issues and resolution, coordinate testing while ensuring alignment with strategic goals. This role will serve as the primary liaison between system users and developers, facilitating effective communication, issue resolution, and prioritization of enhancements. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in reinsurance accounting and operations, a high-level of experience working with data and analytics tools/workflows such as Alteryx, strong reconciliation fundamentals, and experience working in a transformative environment. Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills are essential for success in this role.
What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?
Project Management:
Lead and coordinate the Reinsurance team by developing and maintaining project plans, task lists with related action items, timelines, and deliverables in alignment with organizational goals
Develop, maintain, and regularly update a detailed task list and project tracker for all reinsurance-related conversion and system readiness activities
Assign tasks, set deadlines, and ensure accountability across team members; follow up consistently to monitor progress and resolve blockers
Act as the primary liaison between system users and the system development team to facilitate communication, prioritize enhancements, and resolve issues
Ensure all documentation required for audit and compliance purposes is complete, accurate, and properly stored (e.g., test scripts, results, approvals, data validation logs)
Schedule and facilitate recurring project meetings (status updates, working sessions, issue resolution), ensuring agendas are prepared and action items are tracked to completion
Ensure all compliance, security, and data governance standards are met during the system transition
Prepare and manage Go-Live readiness plans, including completion of conversion checklists, stakeholder sign-offs, contingency planning, and resource alignment
Prepare communications for project steering committee updates
Project Execution:
Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document system requirement to support reinsurance finance workflows and reporting needs
Lead and coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) for system changes and enhancements, ensuring functionality meets business requirements and data accuracy standards
Monitor and validate data flows between admin system and downstream systems, identifying and troubleshooting discrepancies in financial and operational data reconciliations
Provide subject matter expertise in reinsurance accounting and operations to support the accurate configuration and functionality of the system.
Work with cross-functional teams to implement end-to-end system enhancements, from requirements gathering and design through development, testing, and production rollout
Develop and maintain process documentation, user guides, and training materials for system users
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize the accuracy, efficiency, and usability of the system
Support financial close processes by ensuring data integrity and resolving system-related issues that impact financial reporting
Responsibility for the work of others
Up to 3 direct reports

Travel up to 5%
What are the requirements needed for this position?
Education
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance or related field
Experience
Minimum of 4 years' of experience in project management, strategic planning or related role within the insurance or reinsurance industry.
Skills

Extensive experience with Alteryx or other data analytics tools
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?
Strong understanding of process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma
Understanding of insurance/reinsurance accounting

Strong organizational skills
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, V-look ups, Power BI
Application expertise in Microsoft Office, Smartsheet, Visio, and Alteryx

Able to adapt to a flexible work environment
Pay Range:
$86,000.00 - $143,700.00Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
