Description

We are seeking a motivated and organized Assistant Service Manager to support daily service operations in our large agriculture equipment dealership. This role will assist the Service Manager in ensuring exceptional customer service, efficient workflow, employee development, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of agricultural equipment service needs and is prepared to assume a leadership support role, with a clear path to future advancement.

This position is ideal for someone with strong technical knowledge, leadership potential, and a desire to grow within a high-performing service team.

 

What you'll Do:

  • Assist the Service Manager with the day-to-day operation of the service department
  • Help coordinate scheduling, work assignments, and shop workflow based on technician availability and expertise
  • Ensure repair orders are properly opened, documented, and closed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Support the communication of service processes and expectations to the team to maintain high levels of quality and efficiency
  • Communicate with customers regarding repair status, service needs, and follow-up
  • Help monitor department performance metrics and contribute to achieving service goals
  • Assist in developing and implementing technician training and onboarding plans
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized shop environment
  • Help manage department assets, including tools, service vehicles, and equipment
  • Act as a liaison between technicians, parts, and sales departments to ensure smooth interdepartmental operations
  • Step in to support leadership needs during the Service Manager’s absence
Qualifications

Must-Haves:

  • 2+ years of experience in a service department, preferably in agriculture or heavy equipment
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic understanding of service workflow, work orders, and customer service processes
  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office tools
  • Clean driving record

Preferred:

  • Experience working in a dealership setting (agriculture or construction equipment)
  • Familiarity with OEM systems, dealership management software, or service scheduling platforms
  • Technical knowledge of agricultural machinery and diagnostic procedures

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, talk, and use hands/fingers to operate a computer or phone
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and reach as needed in a shop setting
  • Visual and auditory ability to communicate effectively with team members and customers
