7+ yrs product design engineering in consumer electronics | On-site I Full time I Freelance | China, Dongguan

If you’re ready to take ownership of product design where it matters most—on the factory floor—this role is for you. As the bridge between Loop’s EU-based engineering team and our manufacturing partners in China, you’ll play a critical role in getting our designs ready for the real world. Your input will shape how parts are molded, how tools are built, and how issues are solved in real time. You’ll also work directly on mechanical part and assembly design, make drawing packages, and propose improvements when needed. This isn’t a desk job—it’s a hands-on opportunity to make a measurable difference in every phase of development.

Close the gap between design intent and manufacturing success

You’ll serve as the local mechanical engineering lead in China, representing Loop’s design team during all major product development phases—EVT, DVT, and PVT. Your focus will be on aligning Loop’s expectations with supplier capabilities, ensuring every molded part meets our performance and quality standards. From tooling reviews to supplier trials and root cause investigations, you’ll be our eyes, ears, and hands on the ground—supporting everything from part validation to process improvement.

Your other responsibilities:

Evaluate part quality through functional testing, visual inspections, and measurements
Attend supplier mold trials and provide real-time feedback on tooling and part output
Troubleshoot mechanical issues and support corrective actions based on data-driven analysis
Review DFM reports, influence tool design, and validate manufacturing readiness
Communicate findings clearly with Loop’s EU team via reports, photos, and recommendations

How you’ll succeed as a Product Design Engineer

These key competences will set you up for success:

7+ years in mechanical or product design engineering, focused on consumer electronics
Strong background in injection molding, plastic part design, and tooling
Experience with EVT/DVT/PVT builds and supplier collaboration
Creo and Windchill experience
Hands-on knowledge of root cause analysis and process troubleshooting
Familiarity with secondary operations (e.g., ultrasonic welding, painting, laser marking)
Located in Shenzhen area or Dongguan and able to work on a freelance contract
