Job Summary
The Psychiatrist will be an integral member of DAP Health's integrative care team, responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments and providing psychiatric services to patients in need of behavioral health care. This position operates within an outpatient Federally Qualified
Health Center (FQHC) setting, where the psychiatrist will collaborate closely with providers and care teams, working with patients from diverse backgrounds and varying needs.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None/possibly preceptorship/supervision of other roles.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Possess comprehensive behavioral health skills to include, but not limited to mental health assessments; screenings and triage; pharmacological management; therapy/crisis intervention; organization and facilitation of psychoeducational and support groups; short-term case management; documentation; and referrals
  • Perform appropriate diagnostic and clinical assessments in evaluating patient behavioral health and medical care concerns
  • Identify, prioritize, and manage complex behavioral health and co-occurring problems
  • Develop treatment plan in collaboration with the patient while monitoring their progress
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team in collaboration with doctors, clinicians, nurses, medical assistants, case workers, education professionals, etc.
  • Communicate and collaborate professionally and effectively with patients, healthcare professionals, service agencies, etc.
  • Obtain the knowledge and technical skills to serve diverse populations (i.e. HIV/AIDS patients, Alzheimer’s, LGBTQ, etc.) along with cultural sensitivities
  • Act as a resource as well as utilize community resources to connect patients with social, economic, and medical access to specialized comprehensive resources
  • Offers services using various modalities, including in-person, telehealth, telephone, video, etc. that are clinically appropriate and meet the patients' needs
  • Complete all documentation required by DAP Health and the patient’s insurance in a timely manner
  • Protect patient privacy following HIPAA standards
  • Provide supervision of other behavioral health providers as assigned
  • Attend and participate in scheduled meetings
  • Perform additional job-related duties and responsibilities as requested
Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge and basic skills in behavioral health and medical practices and methods
  • Awareness and sensitivity to diverse multicultural communities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills

Education and Experience

  • Current active and unrestricted State of California M.D. License
  • Maintains California state licensure requirements regarding continuing education
  • Board Certified in Psychiatry
  • Current valid Federal Controlled Substance Registration Certificate
  • Current BLS certification obtained through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Working with underserved populations preferred
  • Working in FQHC preferred
  • Working with children, adolescents, and adults preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

  • This position is on-site at a DAP Health clinic with the option for hybrid
  • Operates in an office/clinical setting and requires frequent times of sitting, standing, repetitive motion, and talking
  • Requires current and valid driver’s license and current personal auto insurance
  • Able to travel to DAP Health locations throughout San Diego and Riverside for in person patient care and meetings
  • Ability to lift 24 pounds
