Our HQ office in Torrance, CA is seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Assistant Controller to join our finance team. This individual will assist in managing the accounting operations of the firm, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, supporting audits, and contributing to strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting skills, financial acumen, a collaborative mindset and a demonstrated track record of delivering excellent client service, with exceptional organizational, communication and problem-solving skills. Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000 plus annual bonus 

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements. 
  • Maintain the general ledger and oversee day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, receivables, and payroll. 
  • Mentor, develop, and elevate the existing accounting team by providing guidance, training, and growth opportunities. 
  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports. 
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements. 
  • Assist with external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and coordination with auditors. 
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls, policies, and accounting procedures. 
  • Participate in special projects, including M&A integrations, system implementations, and process improvements. 
  • Collaborate with internal departments such as operations, compliance, and client services. 
  • Maintain documentation for financial processes and internal controls. 
Qualifications

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required 
  • Active CPA license required 
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or senior accountant role. 
  • Experience in the financial services industry, particularly in RIAs, private equity, or asset management, is highly desirable. 
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, revenue recognition, and financial statement preparation. 
  • Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, Sage Intacct) and Excel. 
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities. 
  • High integrity, discretion, and a strong sense of accountability. 
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills; able to work cross-functionally with finance, operations, and leadership.
