Description

Predictive Modeling Specialist 

Position Summary:

The Risk Analytics team uses best-in-class data analytics and modeling to build solutions and insights that drive key business decisions, significantly contributing to Windward’s consistent outperformance of the market. This highly visible position will play an important role on the team with key contributions in the areas of predictive modeling, automation, and business-impacting data insights.

Essential Functions:

In this role, your core responsibility will be to leverage predictive modeling, machine learning, and other advanced analytics techniques to develop back-room and production-level models to drive decision-making in the areas of pricing, underwriting, retention management, agent performance, report ordering, and other emerging use cases. Within this framework, you will:

  • Develop and maintain data pipelines that will support nightly model scoring and efficient/automated re-training
  • Build monitoring dashboards to measure model performance, identify necessary price segmentation adjustments, and measure key performance indicators of new and existing business
  • Conduct regular modeling exercises to improve existing model assets

In Addition You Will:

  • Innovate and improve existing data analytics methods and approaches, including research around unutilized existing data assets and emerging techniques
  • Support proof of concept analyses of data solutions offered by insuretechs and other vendors
  • Effectively communicate analytical findings and observations to influence decision-making throughout the organization
  • Develop standardized dashboards utilizing best-in-class data visualization tools
  • Support Windward’s expansion into new products and geographies
Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area – Risk Management, Statistics, Data Analytics, Mathematics or related field
  • Proven track record (5 to 10+ years) of building robust predictive models in a P&C insurance context

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Open-source statistical software (R and/or Python)
  • Data analysis & data management software programs (SQL)
  • Data visualization tools such as QGIS/ArcGIS and MS PowerBI
  • Experience with modeling tools such as Akur8, DataRobot, Emblem/Radar a plus
  • Advanced capabilities with MS products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Passion for telling stories with data
