This role offers the chance to drive and help grow our air quality team on a national scale, while joining a dynamic environmental engineering and science firm that is expanding both locally and across the country. Who are we looking for:
Woodard & Curran has an opportunity for a mid-level engineer or scientist who can support and execute air permitting projects and provide innovative and superior services to our industrial, municipal, commercial, and institutional clients. The selected candidate will partner with Client Managers in our national Environment Practice and work with a diverse and talented group of engineers and scientists at the firm. The ideal candidate has strong technical experience delivering innovative, technically superior air permitting and air dispersion modeling services. The successful candidate will be a motivated, growth-oriented professional with the ability to work independently as well as lead or participate in multi-disciplined project teams.
 
Location: Remote 

Assignments may include:
  • New Source Review / Prevention of Significant Deterioration Air Permitting and Modeling (including regulatory and photochemical modeling)
  • Class I Impact and Federal Land Manager Guidance Modeling
  • Complex air permitting strategy and advisory support

  • What you will be doing at Woodard & Curran:
  • Lead and complete technical tasks for air permitting and compliance projects at local, state, and federal levels.
  • Prepare air permit modeling analyses (permitting experience a plus).
  • Conduct air quality applicability assessments, toxics modeling, and regulatory analyses.
  • Support database solutions for air quality compliance requirements.
  • Review and support team members’ air dispersion modeling analysis quality.
  • Interact with state and federal air quality regulatory agencies.
  • Work closely with clients to develop and expand strong relationships.
  • Participation in local industry organizations is encouraged to maintain visibility and engagement.
  • Support the growth and development of Woodard & Curran’s Air Quality and Climate Change services through technical leadership and identifying areas for technical improvement and investment.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level staff; integrate them into projects and support skill development.
  • Attend networking events, deliver technical presentations, and maintain active client engagement.
  • Demonstrate strong field and writing skills, excellent oral communication, and leadership ability.
  • Be a self-starter with a positive attitude, capable of working independently and collaboratively.

  • What you will need to succeed:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or meteorology from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct air quality modeling experience
  • Demonstrated professional experience with an environmental/engineering consulting firm, state environmental agency, or industrial/institutional facility.
  • A desire and drive to deliver innovative and effective services and to grow professionally and personally in an employee-focused, supportive work environment.
  • A strong appreciation of and commitment to safe work practices is mandatory.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated performance in analysis, problem-solving, and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and on large, multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Outstanding technical writing and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to mentor and develop a project team and successfully manage project timelines and budgets.
  • Experience interpreting state and federal air quality and modeling regulations and preparing related reports, permits, plans, etc.
