About the Role 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, with a focus on remote monitoring, remote desktop, telemetry, DevOps, and simulation software. Additionally, experience with streaming media platforms and media storage/transfer is highly desirable. 

The SuperNatural Vision (SNV) team at Otto Aviation is dedicated to developing cutting-edge cabin interior systems that enhance the in-flight experience for passengers. Our team is responsible for the design, development, and integration of the Phantom 3500 Super Natural Vision Infotainment System (SNVIS), including all hardware, software, and AI/ML engineering. 

 What You'll Do 

  • Design, develop, and maintain software solutions for remote monitoring and remote desktop applications. 
  • Implement and manage telemetry systems to ensure efficient data collection and analysis. 
  • Lead DevOps initiatives to streamline development, deployment, and operations processes. 
  • Develop and optimize simulation software to support various business needs. 
  • Work with streaming media platforms to enhance media storage and transfer capabilities. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of software solutions. 

Who You Are 

  • 10+ years in a software engineering role for a shipped/released product in the aviation, consumer electronics, or related industries. 
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, C, and Python. 
  • Extensive experience with AWS and relational databases (SQL). 
  • Strong understanding of software development principles and best practices. 
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and executing DevOps projects. 
  • Experience with remote monitoring, remote desktop, and telemetry systems. 
  • Familiarity with simulation software and its applications. 
  • Knowledge of streaming media platforms and media storage/transfer technologies. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills. 
  • Passion for aviation 

Education 

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 

Experience 

  • 8-10 years working in applied software engineering shipping best-in-class products at industrial scale and schedules. 

 Required Skills

  • Extensive experience with AWS and relational databases (SQL). 
  • Strong understanding of software development principles and best practices. 
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and executing DevOps projects.

 Where You'll Be 

Otto Aviation is currently a remote workplace culture, with plans to secure a permanent headquarters for our corporate office in the next 2-3 years.  This role is a remote position and will report to VP, Software.
